With virtually every grape all of the pigment is contained in the skin of the grape. The longer the grape juice stays in contact with the skins the more pigment is transferred from the skin to the juice. There does come a time when the rate at which the pigment transfer slows to the point that the juice actually begins to lose color as the pigment falls out of a solution faster that it is replaced, but this is a very rare condition that only occurs with extended periods of skin contact one rarely encounters.
