The name of the wine is Moscoto however I have not been able to find it other than at the Olive Garden resturant.   Sorry but that Moscato d'Asti is not quite the same as castello del Poggio Moscato which has 7% alc. and is way better tasting. Compare to Castello del poggio Moscato d'Asti which has 5%

Has anyone ever ventured to actually try the Florianaelle that is mentioned in the following article? I would like to get some feedback from the educated palates here amongst us. Cheers. Sorry for the length, but here is the article in full. **************************************************************************************************************** Domaine Beau Mistral Small Lots #32: A Discovery over Cassoulet When Robert Parker described the 2007 vintage in the southern Rhone as the best "top to bottom" in 30 years, we agreed. But, there's something else that we've discovered in 2007, about which not enough has been said. We like to call these the "super-cuvees," tiny-production bottlings -- usually less than 500 cases -- of astonishingly powerful, long-living, rich and chewy blends that put too many Chateauneuf-du-Papes in their place. What do these wines have that's so special? Tremendous concentration and what the French call la mache, the kind of chewy fruit density that stands up to anything, even JP's cassoulet. We were dining at Regalido in Fontvieille with our winemaker friend, Bruno Lafon, talking about the super cuvees of 2007. We had ordered the requisite cassoulet (more on that below), when Bruno told us about Jean-Marc Brun's super cuvee -- the ancient-vine Rasteau Florianaelle. "The secret to la mache in 2007," Bruno told us "is the Mourvedre." He took a forkful of chef JP's fabulous stew, then said. "If you had Florianaelle with this cassoulet, you may never pay the price of Chateauneuf again." Bruno managed to get us an appointment with the super-talented Jean-Marc Brun at Beau Mistral. We were there for a few hours, before Jean-Marc poured this incredibly rich, dense, fabulously muscular, and (yes) chewy, 2007 Florianaelle. You've never heard of Florianaelle? Few people stateside have. The reason's simple. We got it all! This is a deep-purple, elegant beast of a wine, made from the oldest, choicest portions of this superb estate. Just a few hundred cases were made, 100 of which Jean-Marc has earmarked for WineAccess customers. Free shipping on 4. Reminder on Cellaring: A reminder on this one: Florianaelle has tremendous aging potential, the equal of many 2007 Chateauneufs selling for twice the price. DO NOT drink this too fast. Tasting Notes 2007 Domaine Beau Mistral La Cuvee Florianaelle Cotes du Rhone Villages Rasteau "The prodigious 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Cuvee Florianaelle is one of the finest wines from this village that I have ever tasted save for that of Domaine La Soumade. This brawny, big-boned, densely concentrated, inky/purple-colored 2007 offers up aromas of black cherry liqueur, licorice, truffles, graphite, and incense. Hugely fruity and exceptionally full-bodied with a boatload of velvety, well-integrated tannins, this stunning Rasteau should drink well for 12-15+ years." 92-94 points-- Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate Le Regalido in Fontvieille Sometimes the concierge gets it just right, and at the Crillon late last fall, she did. We were checking out, on our way to Avignon, and asked her if she knew any place special in the south. She just smiled, pulled out an undersized piece of that incredible Crillon stationery, and with the silver pen wrote: "Le Regalido in Fontvieille. 30 minutes from Avignon. Don't miss the cassoulet!" The log fire was crackling in this 19th-century converted olive oil mill when we arrived. There were just 10 tables in the beautiful Provencal dining room with the stone-vaulted ceiling. The menu was mouth-watering, but we were doing as directed; we ordered the cassoulet all around. Jean-Pierre Michel's (or "JP" as he prefers to be called) cassoulet is no ordinary duck and white bean stew. It's a multi-day labor of love which begins by curing the pork belly and duck for three days. JP then slow cooks the duck legs into a fine confit with fresh thyme, parsley and peppercorns. Then he adds garden rosemary, tomato, white beans, the cured pork belly and sausage and simmers for two and a half hours. If ever a dish was designed for Chateauneuf, this was it. Unless you can do one better: match it with the 2007 Florianaelle from Jean-Marc Brun -- if you can find it. JP approaches cassoulet likes a conservator at the Musee D'Orsay restoring Manet's Luncheon On The Grass...meticulously calculating in every sleight of hand.    (hide)

  Had it at Olive Garden, introduced it to a Zin wine fan and she is switching to this. Anyone find it in USA. We tried Sutter Home's version and dumped it, and the Ausrtalian was so so but not like the one at OG.

Read more Ratatouille Meets its Match A Cotes du Rhone to pair with this Provencal classic As the summer slips away I fight to hold on to the fading signs of a glorious season and embrace the last vestiges of its greatest glory -  the vegetable garden! Actually, having slightly cooler weather in the evenings has let me begin to shift from light summer wines to ones with a little more oomph. This past weekend I spent a few hours working on a wonderful batch of Ratatouille and then enjoyed a fine dinner with a simply great wine match: Cotes du Rhone. Neither particularly big nor complex this style of wine really lets the complexity of the Ratatouille take center stage. What to expect: Rhone Blends Rhone Blends are generally based on Grenache though some  may be predominantly Syrah or even Mourvedre. The fact that these wines are blends gives the winemakers unusual flexibility in creating the finished wine. In the Southern Rhone Valley of France the styles can range from light, fruity, soft Cotes du Rhone to big, bold, age worthy Chateaunuef-du-pape. Search for other Cotes du Rhone on Snooth Living in Manhattan I don’t have a vegetable garden per se. Ok I don’t have a vegetable garden at all though I have killed several herb plants on my windowsill. My mother on the other hand, living as she does in Connecticut, does have a vegetable garden. It’s large and glorious, brimming with sweet ripe vegetables, and ringed by an imposing 8-foot fence. It does look somewhat like a prison yard, but the fence keeps the deer out and me rolling in fresh veggies. Sometimes rolling may seem like an understatement, it can be more like drowning, not that I mind! Picking up bags FULL of vine ripened tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, zucchini, squash, and spectacularly deeply colored peppers is as exciting for me as a trip down Fifth avenue can be for those more prone to being fashionable. Of course there is one significant difference between these vegetables and a Prada bag. The Prada bag can simply get thrown in the closet and forgotten. These bags need to be cleaned, processed and creatively dealt with, lest I face a week, or more, of Greek salad for dinner. Ratatouille seems to be the ideal solution, ok I cheated, the cucumbers are being pickled. A dish inspired no doubt by days like this in the French Country side. A dish that thrives on abundance, and is oh so forgiving of a little less here or a little more there. It’s one of my favorite dishes. Whether on it’s own, warm or cold, paired with a lamb chop or served with rice or pasta, I love it’s flexibility and the fact that it’s flavor can improve for a day or three so I never grow tired of it. I’ve included my standard recipe for Ratatouille below. You might find that you have a touch more onion or a touch less eggplant, or visa versa, than the recipe calls for. Don’t be too concerned about precise quantities here, just focus on the techniques and when you’re done make sure you take the time to enjoy your handiwork. I recently did just that. I spent some time in my mother’s kitchen last weekend salvaging vegetables from the garden on a rainy Saturday and made a huge batch of ratatouille for all of us to share. On Sunday the weather cleared up and shared it we did, served over fettuccine with a sprinkle of Parmiggiano and the aforementioned grilled lamb chops. It was spectacular and the wine pairing, a 2007 Delas Cotes du Rhone that I stocked up on for events like this, was a perfect partner! While I  recommend serving a Cote du Rhone with Ratatouille, or at least trying one, don’t fret if that’s not a wine you’re interested in. A nice Chianti or Rioja would be a great match too! Ratatouille for many Ingredients 1/3 cup olive oil 1 large yellow onion, 1/3 inch dice 2 medium bell pepper ½ inch dice (I used one green and one red) 2 small eggplant, 1 inch dice 2 tsp fresh thyme 1 tsp fresh oregano 6 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced 2 medium zucchini sliced into ¼ inch half moons 2 medium yellow squash sliced into ¼ half moons 1 quart roughly chopped tomatoes, either canned or fresh but in either case well drained Salt and pepper to taste ¼ cup loosely packed julienne of fresh basil leaves Technique 1)   Heat a large roasting pan over medium heat, one large enough to accommodate all the vegetables, and when hot add the oil. 2)   As soon as the oil begins to smoke add the onions and sauté until translucent. 3)   Once the onions are translucent add the peppers and eggplant and sauté until they have softened, (the corners of the eggplant will start to look rounded) 4)   Add the garlic, oregano and thyme to the mixture and sauté until fragrant, about 2 minutes, then add the zucchini and yellow squash, sauté for about 5 minutes until heated through then add the tomatoes 5)   Season with salt and pepper and continue to simmer over medium heat until the squash have softened and the tomatoes are heated through, about 8 minutes. 6)   Remove from heat, adjust seasonings and stir in the basil as a final touch. 7)   Your ratatouille is ready to serve or store! A meeting of rich and rustic partners 2007 Delas Frères Côtes du Rhône Saint-Esprit Priced from $9.99 This is an unusual Cotes du Rhone in that it is predominantly Syrah, with the addition of 25% Grenache. The resulting wine is filled with slightly roasted red berry fruits that stand up to the sweet tones the fresh vegetables and tomato add to the ratatouille. Accent notes of spice and herbs  meld seamlessly with the savory elements of the dish. Ratatouile for many An easy, rustic recipe great for groups My ratatouille recipe is one scaled down from my restaurant days. Back then a normal recipe produced about four times the yield as this one but the results are the same: deliciousness! I paired this ratatouille with grilled lamb chops and fettuccine but it’s great on its own as well. Other wines that work well with this dish include Chianti and Rioja, both lighter styled reds with bright acidity.    (hide)
