Picked up some baby octopus today and cooked it with some yellow tomatoes from the garden and I'm drinking a red from Mallorca that's a blend of callet, monte negro, cab franc, merlot, and syrah. It's working quite well.

October 2009

At first I did not like this. Made in an oaky internmational style, almost dried out. I served it with a spicy vegetarian chilli which cut throught he oak and tannin. A little cherry fruit came through behind all the...

Sierra Cantabria Rioja 2006

Starting at $11.99 Snoothrank: 3/5

Medium-dark plum color at first pour, with minimal aromatics. On it's own, drinkable but not noteworthy. Light on the palate, some nice acidity. Better with cheese. Best pairing for this was a mixed baby green salad...

Altovinum Evodia Grenache 2007

Starting at $8.99 Snoothrank: 3/5
October 2009

Smooth on the palate. Spicey. Went nicely with spaghetti and vegetarian meatballs in a tomato and basil sauce. Long finish.

Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Starting at $8.29 Snoothrank: 3/5

A good red and white table cloth wine for heavy tomato based sauces, pizza, tri-tip, burgers, carne asada, lasagna from Costco or just to flat out get drunk!

Given the opportunity to rest in a glass for some time, the wine releases a variety of clear, noble and distinct smells - peppers, elder blossom, tomato leaves with a touch of butter, smoke and vanilla. The story of...

Batic Sauvignon Blanc Bio-Organic Batic 2005

Starting at $30.99 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

meaty. dried tomatoes and stewed fruit, integrated tannins and oak. the acid will not disappoint. leather smoke and spice will dance for you. 15$ and worth 25

Torre Quarto Uva di Troia Bottaccia IGT Puglia 2006

Starting at $15.99 Snoothrank: 3/5
October 2009

$6.99 Capsicum, hint of ripe tomato, old cigarette butt, dusty spice and dirt. Fantastic color as always! 2nd) Muted red fruit, pencil, cigarette (2 hours later) 1st) Lively and juicy red fruit. Pretty balanced, a...

Even though this question is super old... You pretty much can't go wrong with any pasta with a tomato-based sauce or anything that is primarily made from mushrooms. Me? I drink red wine with everything.

October 2009

Really like this wine; had a nice bite at the finish and was really delicious! Nice with eggplant parmesan.

Black Beret Grenache/Syrah
