Read moreIt went great, I was just going to wait till I had a moment to collect my ... and cinnamon. Cherry cough syrup, raisin, more cinnamon, clove and dark chocolate. It's full and soft on the palate but carried by a hidden layer of acidity that kept it fresh. Long, long cherry, chocolate finish. This was the wow wine of the night and kept pace once the cigars were lit. It was really great because the cigars actually added to this bottles complexities and brought out more wood and nutty aromas and flavors. http://www.snooth.com/wine/larco-amarone-della-valpolicella-classico-2003/ Lastly there was the 1991 Dow Porto Vintage - A light ruby color in the glass and giving off aromas of Black cherry, undergrowth, pipe smoke and walnut with noticeable heat. On the palate it's rich and sumptuous but not overly sweet with cherry cough syrup, sage, and cedar box. Long, long finish.   MacMurray Ranch Central Coast Pinot Noir 2007

  For the price this is a nice little bottle with a light nose of cherry cough syrup. It's tart and has a bunch of acidity, it's a bit more sweet tasting and flabby than I usually like my pinot.

  Petra Val di Cornia Suvereto Ebo 2003

  Snoothrank:

  The wine is a beautiful garnet color. It has a surprisingly meaty, smokey and almost blood-like smell. It tastes like strawberries. Pairs very well with chocolate. Some might find it cloying like cough-syrup, but it was a hit of the evening.

  Fabre Montmayou Wines Phebus Malbec 2006

  Well balanced, medium bodied Malbec. Violet on the nose. Big wine with some ... is slightly resonant of cough syrup, but the finish is smooth, lasts for a good 45s-1min. Great value for the price of around $7-9
