Being in Australia, I will recommend you a couple of Australian wines; 1) Tasmanian Pinot Noir - Brands; Tamar Ridge, Ninth Island or Pirie, these wines have enough fruit to pair the food you mentioned and acidity to...

It's good... Exactly as expected... Benefited from a brief stint in the decanter. Typically fruit forward, a little jam and some chocolate and spice. Great everyday wine. My rating: 86/100 For the money: 90/100

Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz-Mourvedre 2007

Starting at $12.59 Snoothrank: 3/5

Faint sweet honey and flowers on the nose. Gigantic bubbles on the tongue, extremely crisp and dry but with a sweeter edge than most nice Champagnes I've had. The finish leaves a lovely sweetness on the font of the mouth,...

Veuve Clicquot Rare Vintage Rose 1985

Starting at $96.29 Snoothrank: 4/5

I brought J. Lohr California "Gamay" a few years back and it was great with the bird. I suspect the real grape is Valdiguie, which, if you could find it, would go great. Pinot, lighter Syrahs, a nice Ribeira del Douro, a...

Black olives and bay leaf flavors on the nose. Rich and dense with chocolate and green pepper notes. There's a hint of truffle and some barnyard, before the wine finishes on barely ripe raspberries and cherry flavors....

Bodega Chacra Pinot Noir Barda 2007

Starting at $27.99 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Very earthy, nice caramel on the nose. Medium body with black cherry tones.

Matanzas Creek Winery Pinot Noir 2007

Starting at $30.99 Snoothrank: 4/5

I bought the first bottle of this at Trader Joe's--where I am often disappointed. Not this time. Less than $9, chocolaty, toasty. Good tannins. I make beef stew with cumin and the bottle just disappears. I wonder if it...
