November 2009

immediate funk on the nose, a little caramelized, honey, pear and some burnt spices, definite spice on the palate makes for more complexity and nice acidic balance with the melon and citrus fruits that approach in taste.

Cherry nose with burnt twig and forest floor notes. Soft anise flavors to start, medium acidity and quite a light body. This builds over time and the wine finishes with more power on the backend.

Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico 2006

Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico 2006

Starting at $20.03 Snoothrank: 3/5

deep ruby core to garnet rim; complex aromas of lush dark red fruit, burnt earth, orange peel, leather; the palate is both densely powerful and delicately balanced with an impressive finish -- like this wine a lot

Gaja Camarcanda Promis 2006

Starting at $42.99 Snoothrank: 4/5
October 2009

Smoky cherry fruit. Light and fresh but great depth of flavour and long finish. A bit burnt at the end.

Pinot Noir 2007

Starting at $22.87 Snoothrank: 3/5
October 2009

Not sure if I'm qualified, but I'll give it a go. Love the nose. Mineral, ... Finish is harsh, burnt. One review said to wait a few years (2009?). Another said drink within two years (2007?)

Chateau Corbin 2005

Five Decades of Oddero with Isabella Oddero Isabella Oddero in the cellars   ... of coffee, cigarette ash and burnt raisin tones add their detail to the bouquet though a touch of volatility does emerge, adding lift but...

This wasn't my favorite. Had no fruit whatsoever. Smelled like nothing and ... and tasted bitter or like burnt wood

Ripe, spicy, licorice, leather, char, burnt sugar, vanilla, candied black currant, A touch simple with a smoky/oaky-fruity dichotomy. Soft in the mouth yet it still has a fair amount of acid. Instead of being integrated...
