"Broths" on Snooth

schellbe wrote in the forum topic: Finger Lakes wine trip- Seneca Lake
November 2009

We took our honeymoon (bike trip) through the Finger Lakes, and have had a number of trips to the wineries in the past. The best wines made in the Finger Lakes are Riesling and Gewurzrtraminer. The latter are generally...

OK, maybe I'm getting a little carried away with my experimentation. This past Sunday I made a traditional French wine-and-fish stew called a matelote. I've had them in several parts of France, including Alsace where the...

It went great, I was just going to wait till I had a moment to collect my thoughts on the subject. THese best part about this group is that everyone in really into experimenting. You'd be amazed by how many different...

The Barossa Valley clearly provides a consistent array of pretty impressive stuff - although admittedly, the chocolate mousse intensity of some highly extracted Shiraz examples from the better vintages can be tiring on...

This wine was a birthday gift and I was very pleasantly surprised with how great it tasted even before giving it extended "breathing" time. The color and clarity were excellent. The wine tasted even better the next day...

Santiago Ijalba Ogga Reserva 2001

Starting at $30.01 Snoothrank: 4/5

The coloring is almost as clear as water but the nose had incredible aromas of peaches and apricots along with some oranges and citrus. There were wonderful floral notes on top. The palate was full of fruits and mineral...

Tierra de Luna Torrontes/Chardonnay 2008

Starting at $6.84 Snoothrank: 4/5

Lovely light aromatics of herb, flowers, strawberry fruit, chalk and bitter almond are enticing and very varietal. While this is obviously very young it is also very round, fresh and clean with a soft, ripe edge to the...

Tenute Silvio Nardi Rosso di Montalcino 2007

Starting at $20.39 Snoothrank: 4/5

A little buttery on the nose with notes of sweet oak, spicy beef broth and extract and an assertive wildflower note that emerges with time. This had nice acids and really good cut in the mouth yet remained a bit raw...

Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2004

Starting at $53.99 Snoothrank: 3/5

Eric, I've found a number of US vendors who will ship to my door in Tokyo, whom I mentioned to you in another thread some months ago. Same with Europe, and the Antipodes, though it does take time to build up a portfolio of...
