  Powerful mineral, earth and to a lesser extent, smoke and moss flavors. The fruit is present, but thin. Interesting. Would nicely accompany a meal of beef rouladen and dumplings. A fairly priced table wine.

  Cosa Dolce Syrah Dolcetto

  A Real summery wine, with a haze of strawberries, apples and apricots. Reminds me of a summer fruit pudding, would probably accompany a christmas pudding nicely.

  Tried this at Willi's Wine Bar in Santa Rosa for our anniversary. Wife LOVED it. Went well with the scallop dumplings and pot stickers.

  Caligiore Grazioso NV

  Snoothrank:

  Very light nose with maybe a hint of honeysuckle. Very buttery palate at first which gives way to orange flavors. Refreshing chilled with Chinese dumplings--thanks to Po's Dumpling Bar of Kansas City!

I also remember one fine Saturday afternoon on the patio with a good goat cheese and fruit salad that included plenty of melon and lychee and mint. Though lots of people try to pair it with curry I prefer to enjoy my wines in ways that allow me to taste across their entire range, and my curries with beer or tea. ;-) Who's the vintner? Read moreThis is a wonderfully easy drinking Chardonnay from a great area in Burgundy - Puligny Montrachet (Cote de Beaune in Cote D'Or) - and apparently the grapes for this wine come from prime real estate in and between Puligny and Mersault. It was recommended to me and I don't regret it at all. The aroma and palate tells me there is hint of oak (probably neutral) and probably sur lie aging which gives it the creamy mouthfeel. The nice acidity makes it easy to pair with light to moderately creamy foods. AROMAS & PALATE: dry medium bodied Burgundy/Chardonnay with bright acidity,golden apple, fresh pear, brioche, lemon custard, pineapple, marzapan (almond), white floral notes, subtle dried savory green herbs like maybe thyme or rosemary, chalk minerality and vanilla cream.    (hide)
