lol @ the thread drift. I realized just how wrong I was when the solution was reached. Thought the question was more along the lines of pairing a wine with a cake- rather than the name of a wine with the name of a cake....

Also, a good Canadian Eiswein (Niagra especially) would work admirably - and there are a number of red examples that are quite good if a bit eccentric. Inniskillin has made a number of very creditable such wines...

A rich, sweet Mosel of the Beerenauslese (very sweet), Auslese (sweet), Spätelese (semi-sweet) would indeed work. I have tried this with Belgian, Swiss and Austrian truffles...
