  Dr. Konstantin Frank Pinot Noir 2007

  Snoothrank:

  immediate bing cherry, cranberry, and layers of red fruit dominate the nose. more earthy and spicy on the palate, complex and exotic with a very nice finish

  Allegrini Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2004

  Snoothrank:

  Bourbon lovers rejoice. Imagine a grape, blackberry, bing cherry flavored whiskey with tons of oak, alcohol and intensity & you have this powerhouse from Italy. Not for the faint of palate.

  Reserve St Martin Pinot Noir 2008

  Snoothrank:

  Sweet bing cherries on the nose. Fairly sweet soft fruits (bramble fruits) to start. The wine is soft with flavors of cherries. Low tannins and a soft finish. Fine, although simple.

  A great nose of raspberry and blackberry, followed by the taste of dried bing cherries, and a light oak toast. Bring out the pasta and marinara sauce!

  Chemically licorice nose - which didnt excite me. However, in the mouth its a ... with fat fruity flavors of bing cherry, and blackberry. Nice chocolate, cedar and vanilla flavors. Toasted marshmallow and bread on the finish, with more Christmas spice and vanilla. Nic

  Parducci Merlot 2006

  Snoothrank:

  Spicy licorice and tar nose with almonds and bing cherry top notes. Meaty for a merlot, there's earth, and good minerality. The finish is typical merlot with warm flavors of christmas cake, cinammon and tobacco. Very nice

This would ultimately beg the question of, who in their right mind would possibly attempt to present let alone bottle this obscure and often-blended varietal? 06' was an excellent hot year in the valley and this 100% Cab Franc displays nuances and delicacy that is not often found in this region's highly celebrated Cabs. Displaying a richly brilliant violet of a Pinot Noir, one instantly finds a medium-full mouthfeel and picks up notes of savory bing cherries, slight cassis, interlaced with herbs followed by a silky milk chocolate finish. I originally picked this one up as an experiment in a 100% varietal tasting. Now I'm liking it and am considering a 3 hour drive to pick up some more.    (hide)

  Airlie Winery Pinot Noir 2006

  Typical Oregon Pinot Noir which means lights out. Well balanced, rounded, and ... rounded, and with incredible bing cherry aromas and slight vanilla beans from the oak. Sure to be a crowd pleaser, if you are going to feature just one Pinot then this has got to be the one
