"barbecue" on Snooth

November 2009

We forgot we had this bottle and ended up drinking it after it sat in our cellar for a year. I had read that this would be a great wine to pair with something prepared on the grill so we drank it with BBQ Ribs. Delicious!

Bogle Petite Sirah 2006

Starting at $11.29 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

The grapes for this wine obviously had the ripeness to produce 17.2% alcohol, ... pasta or big-time barbecue

November 2009

So a question in one of these threads, or perhaps in a comments thread on one of my articles got me thinking about my favorite varietal wines. First off I will have to group my answer in two parts, noble wines and not...

I love this wine. It has just enough fruit in the front to be easily drinkable with a wide variety of meals, but big tannins and pepper too. It's a bold wine that can go with roast beef, BBQ or dark chocolate!

The Thomas Family Winery Zinfandel 2004

Starting at $20.99 Snoothrank: 3.5/5
October 2009

blackberries meet bbq sauce. nice to meet you too.

Windmill Petite Sirah 2006

Starting at $9.59 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Smoke, ash, barbeque grill, mint, cedar and sassafras all add complexity to the deep core of jammy wild cherry and mulberry fruits on the nose. Silky on entry with excellent breadth across the palate and waves of soft,...

This light bodied varietal definitely stands on its own as a casual drinking wine or equally well with food. A deep ruby color with a slightly buttery bouquet with red currants or possible strawberries. Flavors of ripe...

October 2009

Very deep ruby color - almost inky. Nose is quite nice, with spicy aromas with underlying cherry and stone fruit. Was far better the second day and really opened up nicely, which would suggest decanting is in order. Pair...

Brazin Zinfandel Old Vines 2007

Starting at $15.59 Snoothrank: 3.5/5
October 2009

Dark pigment, typical Malbec. Leather nose, oak (American?), spice, dark berry fruit, smoke (this may be from my BBQ). Indeterminate fruit, not much going on in the mouth. Furry tannins. Hit of alcohol on the back....

Gascon Malbec 2008

Starting at $10.99 Snoothrank: 3/5
October 2009

This is one of the wines my dad brought back from his trip to Mendoza. I am not a big white drinker but it was so yummy! Everyone at our bbq finished what they were drinking so they could have some too- such nice flavor.

Bressia Lagrima Canela 2006
