I'd stay away from the Silver Oak (both Napa and Alex). They're just so gaudy ... feel. I'd knock back an Amarone if you like power. I've seen the '97 Tommasi around in your budget and it's superb, with chewy raisins...

Italians....Again when the cash just won't fit in my wallet, or pocket anymore ... you will find me with an Amarone. I like Sangioveses and good Chianti's ob rare occasion.
