Zeppoli’s Restaurant opened in October of 1996. Owners Doris Fleming and Joe Slattery wanted to create an Italian restaurant that featured something they felt was lacking in many of the chain-type restaurants; fresh, made from scratch Italian cuisine, using both traditional recipes and some of their own creations. Both were seasoned restaurant people, Doris having lived here and worked over 20 years in various restaurant settings and Joe having owned and worked in 3 of his own restaurants in Blacksburg.
Drawing from recipes handed down by their Italian mothers and recipes they had created while working in other restaurants, they came up with a menu that features both traditional Italian foods and interesting and innovative dishes using favorite Italian ingredients.
