Are you looking for hard to find wines or just that "special" wine? We know where to find them, because that's what we do, custom shopping! WineStars is a wine company specializing in premium, limited vintage and limited production wines. That is what our product is, however, what we really specialize in is service. We have real people at the other end of the phone, who are looking forward to finding the wines you want and introducing you to some of the best wines there are, which usually never make it out of northern California. We enjoy working with many of the smaller producers, who are often winemakers for larger wineries that produce under their own label. Of course, we have access to the bigger, more popular wines as well. We taste just about everything we sell, and never recommend something we don't feel is up to our standards. So, you can shop from the comfort of your favorite easy chair - no more standing in front of the rows and rows of wines at the huge wine warehouse store trying to figure Read more »

  • From my friend Hardy Wallace who is the wine maker for Dirty & Rowdy Family Winery. JD will remember when Hardy worked for Cathy Corison and we stopped by for a pretty cool tasting. But I digress... Hardy said in the email that he would be at Corison today and that if I was I the area it would behoove me to pay him a visit.I have been in the rig... Read More

  • So we have some interest in having a West Coast meet-up (or you can call it a throw-down) for Pinot.  Here's my opening proposal:  We'll do it very close to the Oakland Airport, to save those who are traveling in from out of town (like Emark and JonDerry) from having extra travel if they want to fly.  This would give LuchaVino a chance to attend... • With the celebration of our Independence right around the corner, we are all set to celebrate. This is after all one of the great parties of the year for of us. Historically it was fun and easy to recommend "America's Indigenous Grape" aka Zinfandel as the go to wine for Fourth of July celebrations, but that ultimately meant recommending a wine ... • Yesterday we were lucky enough to attend a barrel sample Fall Release Preview Picnic at the Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma. A typical beautiful Sonoma County day with temps hovering in the low 90's. • It's Fremont, and it's near the Mission San Jose school district, so there are probably some Chinese families here, definitely some Vietnamese as well, but the biggest Asian population here is probably Indian, so it's a big mystery.  What's really strange is that it looks like it was made for the Portugese buyer-- the little emblem that says "Be... • I was recently transferred to an office in Fremont, CA, which is like a prison sentence in my work, so how do I entertain myself?  I scout out new wine stores.  And, thanks to Yelp, I found this really cool market that specializes in all things Portugese. It's no secret I love Spanish wine, and my experience with Portugese so far has been that i... Read More
