At first was only 3 stars, but improved after 15 minutes in the glass. Nose had cedar, cherry and olives. Viscous and chalky in mouth, with notes of pepper. Finish was maybe a little too tight. This wine may drink better next year.

From my friend Hardy Wallace who is the wine maker for Dirty & Rowdy Family Winery. JD will remember when Hardy worked for Cathy Corison and we stopped by for a pretty cool tasting. But I digress... Hardy said in the email that he would be at Corison today and that if I was I the area it would behoove me to pay him a visit.I have been in the rig... Read More

So we have some interest in having a West Coast meet-up (or you can call it a throw-down) for Pinot. Here's my opening proposal: We'll do it very close to the Oakland Airport, to save those who are traveling in from out of town (like Emark and JonDerry) from having extra travel if they want to fly. This would give LuchaVino a chance to attend... Read More
With the celebration of our Independence right around the corner, we are all set to celebrate. This is after all one of the great parties of the year for of us. Historically it was fun and easy to recommend "America's Indigenous Grape" aka Zinfandel as the go to wine for Fourth of July celebrations, but that ultimately meant recommending a wine ... Read More

JD, this is especially funny considering our brief conversation about my idea for a post comparing your favorite rock stars to wines. (Tom Petty = CdR or some Vin da Tavola, Dylan is Burgundy, sometimes great, often inscrutable; Leonard Cohen is Cru Classe Burgundy, never bad, often brilliant...)So will the threads about Rimmerman elsewhere tra... It's Fremont, and it's near the Mission San Jose school district, so there are probably some Chinese families here, definitely some Vietnamese as well, but the biggest Asian population here is probably Indian, so it's a big mystery. What's really strange is that it looks like it was made for the Portugese buyer-- the little emblem that says "Be... Read More
I was recently transferred to an office in Fremont, CA, which is like a prison sentence in my work, so how do I entertain myself? I scout out new wine stores. And, thanks to Yelp, I found this really cool market that specializes in all things Portugese. It's no secret I love Spanish wine, and my experience with Portugese so far has been that i... Read More
