  • Did you guys find a particularly good wine this week?  I'll be pouring wines at the Wine in the Water Park event again tomorrow night, so I am done opening bottles until perhaps Saturday.  Tonight was a few beers to send off an old co-worker to her new program.  I like getting together for a happy hour event every now and then with people I used... • Hi Everyone,I've scoured the forum and I just can't quite find the answer I was looking for so I thought I would throw out a new topic.  My wife and I have recently started getting more serious regarding our wine collection.  We have purchased several wines recently, and intend on increasing purchases in the near future (once baby #2 arrives).  ... • This was probably my least favorite Lewis ever.  On the other hand, Mrs. EMark seemed to like it a lot.  A very refreshing wine, but, in my view, a bit unbalanced towards the acid side (and I'm the guy who normally craves acid).  I can't say that I noticed the alcohol. Read More

  • I'd never heard of this winery until I read a blurb someplace 2-3 years ago.  Similar to what I'm sure many have experienced, just a few days later I was in one of my favorite wine shops, and here this was right in front of me.  The store clerk was impressed that I'd picked it out.  So, I'm feeling pretty good.  That is, until I started reading ... • I get the itch for those kinda wines Fox, but don't have the same low dollar discipline as you, nor do I care to. But I also drink a little less in quantity, by more than double (less than half) if factoring in our wives.Mark , that is correct...we were 2/2 with the 70's reds yesterday and 0/1 on an '82 Puligny Montrachet (forgot the producer na... • How disappointing, Czarina.  I am the guy, here, who is not that sensitive to alcohol.  So, it does not bother me.  If you are that sensitive, then you might want to just avoid Zinfandel -- or step up a bit in $$ and look at a Ridge Lytton Springs or Geyserville bottlings.  Heck, if PN or Gamay hit your sweet spot, keep on exploring them.  I am ... • So, I finally re-introduced myself to Zinfandel.  I bought a half bottle of Seghesio Sonoma '12.  I decantered it for 1 hour and ate it with spaghetti w/tomato-basil sauce.  The wine was dominated by the alcohol -- 14.8% -- and while I tasted black fruit and a very interesting roasted sage note on the mid-palate, the alcohol drive of the wine ma... • I am very new to wine! Fell in love with the red wines in Paris. Still searching for that smooth, almost like water, quality to a red wine without breaking the bank.I'm kind of annoyed with the spicy/cinnamon finish to wines I've tried lately. I don't care for sweet, but I don't care for dry, either.  Thank you for letting me on! Susie Read More

  • Oh dear, more good French wines well under $20, even after import across the Atlantic. I'm liking Chambers Street more and more, the more I visit their offerings. These guys seem to understand wine in ways that I do and like. In their essay below there's a link to a current Asimov article on Muscadet. It's also well worth jumping to and reading.... Read More

  • Okay, I'm now in Chrome.  I could be a convert, but I have hipster/techy friends that say Chrome uses all your computer's stuff, I don't even know what you call it, but it bogs it down?  Maybe I'm drunk, Ida know.http://johnschreiner.blogspot.ca/Well Jesus that was easy.  Internet Explorer SUCKS!This guy, John Schreiner has some very interesting...
