After years of running a successful contemporary art gallery, Stefano Campanini couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. While many people enjoy contemporary art, even more people enjoy drinking wine while looking at art or drinking wine while looking at wine. Through this realization and with the aid of other enophiles with wine-business savvy, Stefano merged his passions for art and wine under the moniker Wine by the Bay, located downtown.

“I am looking forward to offering something that everyone enjoys and in an environment where the art can be appreciated by many and in an unintimidating way," Campanini says of the new, modern, 1,200-square-foot fine-wine and art boutique with terrace views of Biscayne Bay and a steady rotation of exhibitions. "At art openings, wine is like a sideshow, but now, it will take center stage."

  • I was fortunate to be invited to the Weekend of Grand Amateurs tasting in Bordeaux this past month, and while I do indeed look forward to tasting the much-heralded 2009s in such a format, this year's focus was the less acclaimed -- and often maligned -- 2007 vintage.2007 is a vintage defined by its weather, in more ways than one. Not only does t... Read More

  • I know.............this may sound like a pipe dream but one of these days someone is going to start the "Wine Channel".  Think of the possibilities for promoting and increasing sales for many USA wines and wines from all over the world.  It would encompass Wine, Food, Travel, Vineyards, Sales, Gadgets, Contests, Wine holidays all over the world,... • So, should we be excited? Well, a lot of the wine media and critics parade would have you believe so, but if you’re like me and prefer more traditionally proportioned wines, a word of caution is in order.2007 is another hot climate vintage for Piedmont, and the wines certainly show it. While many of the wines show a much greater understanding of... Read More

We have a blog (http://birthofawine.blogspot.com/), which tracks our vineyard adventures, but I'd also like to interarct with like-minded folk on Snooth too. • My ChateauChateau Ste. Michelle - Food and wine pairing made easy! For years, while I was in the retail wine business, people would ask me for food and wine pairing advice that ranged from the simple -- what wine matches Coq au Vin -- to the remarkably esoteric: What white wine goes with Filet Mignon, served sashimi style? (Don’t ask. Thankfully,... Read More

  • I am pretty new to snooth, and just stumbled across the intro page.  I am the son of one of the owners of a very nice, very small winery in Southern Humboldt, CA.  We are between two fine Pinot areas, Sonoma and Oregon.  So, surpise!  In the right spots here, Pinot Noir does very well.  We also make Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, along with met... • Well folks, it looks like summer is here! When I was younger I spent my summers in Europe. It’s kind of funny how summer seems like the only time of the year that we can take a break from routine and embrace the Mediterranean way of life.  The easy appeal of simple meals and laid-back evenings, just enjoying the company of friends, and a lovely ...
