After years of running a successful contemporary art gallery, Stefano Campanini couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. While many people enjoy contemporary art, even more people enjoy drinking wine while looking at art or drinking wine while looking at wine. Through this realization and with the aid of other enophiles with wine-business savvy, Stefano merged his passions for art and wine under the moniker Wine by the Bay, located downtown.

“I am looking forward to offering something that everyone enjoys and in an environment where the art can be appreciated by many and in an unintimidating way," Campanini says of the new, modern, 1,200-square-foot fine-wine and art boutique with terrace views of Biscayne Bay and a steady rotation of exhibitions. "At art openings, wine is like a sideshow, but now, it will take center stage."

  • Living in Sonoma County my cellar is pretty Cali-Centric. I mean in an earthquake it just may break off and fall into the Pacific Ocean. So tonight I'm going with something completely different. I picked up an El Nido Clio 2008 that I'm giving a test drive to see if I want more. Anything other than California wine or Rhones and I am treading on ... Read More

  • A friend and I had a regions-of-the-world tasting, and we had a Brunello that we loved (Nardi 2003).  I paid about $37 for it, but it was on sale and is more like $60-$80.  My friend has been learning more about wine recently, and was really ecstatic about this bottle.  I told her that she has expensive taste and she's going to have to spend abo... There are great old-vine vineyards around the globe that range from Nero d’Avola in Italy to Grenache in Spain and Malbec in Argentina, but only in California can we find the finest examples of Zinfandel. And when the discussion comes around to Zinfandel and experiencing all it has to offer, one is inevitably d... Read More

  • I am open to suggestions that are relatively easy to procure, on the dryer side, and have some level of complexity- I tend not to like a one-dimensional, flat wine.  At my last tasting of Asian influenced foods, I paired a Trefethern Dry Reisling, along with 2 other whites.  People liked it ok, but thought a bit sweet tho.  The white rhone blend...
