We created wine boutique to provide an easy-to-use link between smaller producers and wine-loving individuals who may be feeling that the Supermarket brands are a bit boring and cynical (buy one, get one free but they doubled the price first!!!) but are not sure where to look for something a bit more interesting. We buy direct and spend considerable time each year in the vineyards searching for exciting new wines. We generally source our wines from smaller producers - some with less than 3 hectares of vines. They don’t blend to produce boring, commodity drinks. They are farmers and winemakers who grow grapes on interesting pieces of land and then set about making the best wines they can. Some don’t even produce enough wine to satisfy existing demand – we have to beg them for an allocation! When we taste a great wine, we buy it regardless of how much there is available. The website allows us to update regularly so that if things run out, we remove them. Dull, boring wine never seems to run Read more »

  • Hi Everyone,I´m recently joined to Snooth and fully motivated to get going. Having toured around Argentina and Chile tasting wines, my partner and I head up to San Fransisco to tour the US West Coast in March.Does anyone here have a recommendation for one day circuits we could do? We probably have 2 days for California wines, and have been recom... Read More

  • I absolutely love wine. Snooth is one of the reasons I love the mystique of wine because it  offers me a forum to discuss wine and all of it's nuances, it's history, it's wonder, it's character, it's beauty. I work very hard at my profession even though I have scaled it down to 3 days per week. After my work I love good food and love to imbibe i... Read More

  • The following post is straight off my blog. I think it's worth making a mention of this group of winemakers because of the great wines they produced which have started getting the attention of the local Australian market and more recently, the UK wine circles. I'm not sure if they have USA distributorships, but do keep your eye out for them! Hop... Read More

  • I know there have been at least one or two conversations about buying wines at Costco, but I happened to catch the one hour documentary about Costco on CNBC, last night.  They actually spent a significant portion of the program (8-9 minutes) about wine sales.  Here is the thing that blew me away.  Apparently, annual wine sales at Costco exceed a... • Living in Sonoma County my cellar is pretty Cali-Centric. I mean in an earthquake it just may break off and fall into the Pacific Ocean. So tonight I'm going with something completely different. I picked up an El Nido Clio 2008 that I'm giving a test drive to see if I want more. Anything other than California wine or Rhones and I am treading on ... Read More

  • Okay, so I admit it:  I like to buy things for less than I think they are worth.  And what a great time for that in wine.  Wineries are unloading library wines and cutting prices, but there are even better deals to be had.  Wineries bottle up excess wine and sell it without a label to a broker who can't say exactly what it is, but can use the AV... • A few months ago I started a wine blog, freshvino.com.  It's mostly news, facts and stories about wine and the wine business that I think will be interesting to people.  There's almost no wine reviews because I think so many of them are pretentious.  I was wondering whether other people like reviews on blogs?  I DO like ratings, like the ones yo...
