Wine Bank on View is a wine bar and retail outlet operating from a heritage listed former bank building in central Bendigo. Our wine shop is open from 10am until late every day of the week, offering a huge range of wine, beer and spirits, as well as gift ideas and accessories. Wine Bank on ViewBy day, our award winning coffee and café-style menu are enjoyed along with wines by the glass and homemade cakes, whilst a variety of spaces are used for group meetings and functions. By night, Wine Bank becomes a thriving social hub to relax and enjoy a glass of wine with friends, a range of dinner and food options or a degustation menu prepared by our team of experienced chefs (bookings required). In years past, Bank employees lived at the rear of the property. Today, these Maisonettes form part of Allawah Bendigo, a collection of sophisticated self-contained accommodation scattered around the Bendigo CBD. – Description from Dragac

  • Oh dear, more good French wines well under $20, even after import across the Atlantic. I'm liking Chambers Street more and more, the more I visit their offerings. These guys seem to understand wine in ways that I do and like. In their essay below there's a link to a current Asimov article on Muscadet. It's also well worth jumping to and reading.... Read More

  • Perhaps we could use a place to share recent purchases...Here are some '12 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo, which came highly recommended from a trusted friend who just got back from a month in Italy. I'm not seeing many available in the States quite yet, but was happy to find these locally. Read More

  • It being earth day tomorrow I thought this would be a fine time to explore attitude towards the whole organic/natural/biodynamic movement. I reached out to some wine professionals to get their opinions about these wines, but before I turn the stage over to them I’d like to explore the situation briefly. Before we consider the value of these wines... • In getting together with some LA and OC wine folks yesterday, I brought along this 1961 Oddero Barolo to the party that also featured a '66 Lafite, and a '66 Haut Brion, among others. I had sourced this Barolo just last week as something to throw at the pair of old 1st growth wolves, and spice things up. Sitting here this morning, I can easily c... Read More

  • Hi!  Who remembers Sutter Home White Zinfandel?  Well, I guess you can still buy it, but back in the 80's it was huge on the wine scene, (well, to those with a limited budget and an even more limited palate) and that's what got me started.  I've come a long way, but still have so much to learn.  I progressed through the really sweet whites to Ch... • Back at ya, Kim.Thank you for the excellent list.  The good news is that I live in a large metropolitan area.  So, it is possible that I might be able to find some of the labels that you have suggested. As it turns out, you caught me in a mistatement.  (I'm old.  I forget.)  I have had another South African wine, and it was a Pinotage from Neil ... • So I am sneaking away to Sonoma for a few days.  I have spent tons of time up in RRV and Sebastopol, and I think I want to revisit the lower valley this time- Kenwood, Glen Ellen...  I would love recommendations for wineries, hotels, motels, vac. rentals, and restaurants.  Sonoma proper would be ok to stay, as is close to those areas.  Plan on h... • Being a cab lover I am hesitant to stray from what I like. On a recent occasion I had the opportunity to try a Zinfandel and to my amazement, it had some of the same attributes of the cabernets I love so well. I perused Snooth and stopped on a particular zin from Bogle vineyards. Gregory Dal Piaz gave it a nice rating and being a member of Snoot... Read More
