  • It looks like there is a strong, devoted group that is totally engulfed with "zinfatuation". I am definitely one of those that likes a good, strong, bold, spicy Zin. This thread is narrowing in one particular related bottling, Primitivo, mostly out of Italy. What is your preferred Primitivo and why?My least favorite is A-Mano 2007. It was al... Read More

  • Broadfield Ravensong Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2008

This wine is pale green in colour, with intense citrus and passionffruit -like aromas. The palate shows typical lime characters and is crisp and dry with a refined long finish.More at the Semillon end of the spectrum ,this wine will mature well over the next 3 to 5 years Read More

  • Mollydooker the Boxer Shiraz Australia South Australia Sarah and Sparky Marquis 2008

Huge Australian fruit on the mouthfeel, big black cherry, peppery spice on the front, with almost a tickling of suede on the back and across the tongue...did the "Mollydooker Shake" and tasted a bit of a difference, seemed like the spice calmed a bit and the fruit was a little more intense...big leather on the nose...If youre big into sweet big ... • Château Arnauton Red Bordeaux Blend Fronsac 2005

For the price (you can find it for $15 on other sites) this is a wonderful "drink now" wine. It should get a little more depth with age, but you simply can't beat it with a fillet with port reduction sauce or BBQ lamb. A real treat, especially if you enjoy the Fronsac earthy quality. Read More

  • Château Tayac Red Bordeaux Blend Margaux 2000

I received a bottle of your 1993 Chateau Tayac Margaux several years ago and the bottle has been in cellar storage until two weeks ago. Opening up the bottle, letting it breath, nosing the glass, sifting the wine... fabulous. Whishing I had several more. Will be looking forward to obtaining several bottles of 2000 and cellaring to enjoy in a... Read More

  • Nobile di Montepulciano Boscarelli Toscana 2005

Just returned from a trip to Tuscany, and this wine was widely recommended as the best Vino Nobile. Excellent with and without food. I am not a wine writer, so can't get more specific other than to say it has a nice finish (something I notice can be bad on cheaper Italian reds) and is delicious from the first sip. Read More

  • Santomas Big Red Reserve Antonius Refosk Santomas 2004

I bet you had no idea they make wine in... Slovenia! I was completely unaware of that! But, read this out loud: I came across an old timer here that rocked my world. Truly, we are talking about a straight 91 pointer! Here we go: the wine comes from a small vineyard in Primorje (Trieste Capodistria) branded by the Glavina family, local wine make... Read More

  • We live in a world where strong adjectives are thrown around loosely both by media types and everyday folks. The trouble with that is it can lessen the impact of those words when they’re used quite seriously and literally. I say this because I had the chance to have lunch with Joel Peterson recently; for me, as well as many other wine lovers, he... Read More

  • Ravenswood – Decades of producing old vine Zinfandel that reflects the vineyard and not the winemaker’s style. Joel Peterson, Ravenswood’s founder and winemaker to this day, was doing the rounds recently here in New York City. I had a chance to sit with him and taste through much of the line-up they are releasing in the coming months. The commit... Read More
