  • You know the scene. He walks into the wine bar, orders a glass of Macon Villages and spends the next half hour telling you he's an expert on Burgundy. Well, don't believe him, Burgundy's hallowed vineyards hold mysteries far beyond mere mortal's understanding. That said, the code to this magical region is there to be cracked! There's no better w... • If you have any familiarity with Italian wines it’s likely that the name Bertani is well known to you. Located around Verona, the Valpolicella region is most famous for Amarone and other wines produced using variations of the passito method. Bertani stands as the best known and most traditional producer of this style of wines. I spent some time ... Read More

  • Wild Irish Rose Red

    Snoothrank:

Despite being labeled a 'Bum Wine'...Wild Irish Rose Red tastes pretty darn good at it's price. It reminds me a lot of Carlo Rossi Sweet Red.Make a little less citrusy in the finish and give it more warmth(alcohol) and you have Wild Irish Rose Red. Read More

  • Fanagoria Cru Lermont Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

    Snoothrank:

Interesting wine with layered taste and complex aroma named by Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov. Locally grown grape, seedlings came from France, Jean Guy Arrive. Nose: red fruits, jasmine, light mint on top and small slice of caramel nearby. Medium body wine with perceptible minerality, not salty though. Taste starts with good acidity, wider red fru... • Sazyk Dere Merlot Marochnoye 2015

    Snoothrank:

"" /Marochnoye/ means "vintage wine", it also has shaped bottle, fancy label and the word "premium" in description... but all that is very misleading because it's not. well, the wine is not too bad - it has taste and some tannin at the end but I believe customers will expect something more than that... • I would suggest that they sign a 2-3 year contract, no way of knowing only a consumer. I do know that Sams is trying to do the same wonder how long it will be before amazon does the same It is hard to believe considering that Costco has several private labels, their coffee is roasted by Starbucks,  they do show on the Chianti who makes the wine. • Port-a-potty?  Haven't heard that one, but there is plenty of swill made from the willing but often lacking Zinfandel grape.  Of course, most of the difficulty is referenced back to human error and human greed... over-cropping, too much sun (raisons are great as raisins - not wine grapes - unless you love Reciotto, which is an acquired taste, li... • DM, the big issue I see with one above the last (besides the overall look and the magazines) is that the round storage holes seem fairly shallow, looking somewhat unsafe.Don't recognize the place in your last post but if it's "proper" I hope the guests are all dressed warmly, sitting in a 55 degree room for more that a couple minutes is not a lo... • Galileo once said “Wine is water, held together by sunlight.” With all the record rainfall that NY has been getting this year, it’s been impossible not to think about how water affects wine quality.  Too much or too little can significantly impact the way a harvest will develop.  Since the largest chemical component of wine is also water, Galile...
