West Mount Wine was founded by Paul in 2005 to offer a different way of learning about and buying wine. Extensive lectures on soil types, climate variation and vineyard drainage were not for us. Debating what makes a wine taste great by actually tasting it was for us. So that's what we did. Our initial objective was to host and run wine tasting and wine education events for small groups, offering basic knowledge on how to choose and enjoy the best wines possible within your chosen budget. In 2007, we decided to launch a wine merchant to enable our customers to buy a hand chosen selection of wine that we both use in our events and are delighted to promote. You won't often find these wines in the supermarket and we aim to offer them at highly competitive prices to offer you great value, with the bonus of access to our knowledge, great advice and service. We are a small business and our prices relfect our low overheads. We seek to offer some of the most competitive prices on the majority of our range. – Description from AlexJelena

  • Greg, don't even read this!Yesterday I hosted a pinot noir event.  It was a blind tasting of three BC and one California.  Talk about getting out of the box.  For me this is tantamount to cross-dressing.  It started because Chester introduced me to the Kettle Valley "Hayman" reserve Pinot last year.  I really liked it, so when I found one (83 ca... • The oil spill is, I'm guessing, about 20 miles north of downtown Santa Barbara and about 20-25 miles south and west of what most people refer to as Santa Barbara wine country--Lompoc/Santa Ynez.  There are some tasting rooms in the city of Santa Barbara, and, in fact most of them are within walking distance of each other.  I would guess that the... A quarterly Tasting Room selection. Growing up in West Palm Beach a long long while ago, there was a 'bug guy' who would show up periodically in the summer evenings in his truncated tanker truck to fog the neighborhood with, I assume, a DDT spray. All of us kids could not help ourselves, we rushed to mount our bikes, sped off to follow the cloud... Read More

  • Just finished tasting Ballabourneen The Stuart 2013 Chardonnay (Australian Wine Selectors Hunter Valley Series January 2014 dozen), bottled under screwcap. Supposed to have a "round and subtle biscuity finish" Well the bottle I tasted was way to subtle for me I'm afraid! I think it is due to last week's tasting of the Tapanappa  2008 Tiers Picca... • I was fortunate to be able to attends last weeks ZAP Experience. As you might know this year’s event differed from those in years past as the event was broken down into additional components.  The trade and media portion of the Experience is now a discreet tasting, and the grand tasting has been broken out into sections, that took place on the g... • Hello Everyone, I am having troubles ordering wine off of Snooth.  I am a first time buyer, all info filled out to become a member, and have tried for the past week to order from Snooth.  As I have chosen the case of my liking I go to checkout and then the shopping shows empty.  I have called the number for Wine Folder and sent messages on both ... • While perusing wines at a quaint boutique in Nova Scotia during a writing respite today, an interesting thought occurred to me. Unless I've overlooked it, there has not been a vibrant thread regarding odd wine labels on this platform heretofore. What are some of the oddest wine labels you've seen or currently have cellared away?  Which most beli... Read More
