Consistent in vintage to vintage. Inky dark juice in the glass, blackberry, bosenberry, oak, tongue coating tannins, chocolate and good acidity puts this above it's price points. Full and smooth, I've found that this is better with a couple of years in...

This highly regarded wine has some presence in my cellar, perhaps because, as Stephen Brooks notes, there is something slightly wild in each bottle. On the nose, there is sweet blueberry and wood (cedar) with just a hint of cloves. Inviting. On the ...

2002.? Any questions? Decanted and bold, still quite young. Cellar holder; no need to spill yet. A beautiful young boutique Cab and reflection and memory of the 2002 Vintage I used to own. Thank you Table #22 for the taste @ the venue I work.
Today, I am enjoying my grill along with a bottle of 2009 Chateau de la Taille Bordeaux, another bottle from that super vintage (at least as it's been billed) from France. Now don't get me wrong, the experts who tasted from barrels are probably righ...

Had this vintage 2003 again on 24 June, 2012 with Asian flavored chicken with plum sauce. A great experience improved - an aussie version of a traditional Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc really comes toget...

Very rich and flavorful with nice fruit and tannins. This is one of my go-to wines that I always have a few bottles in the cellar. Very consistently excellent from vintage to vintage. Great with grilled beef. Over the last few years the price on this h...

100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% new barrique Adult candy, that’s what this smells like. It’s got a nice hint of underbrush followed by ripe black currant fruits edged in pencil lead and herbs in a cool, precise register. On the palate this is ric...

Nose of strawberry shortcake with light cream. Notes of light mountain herb and cranberry with a pretty, medium dark robe. For a young Barolo from an excellent vintage, this wine is quite approachable with few intrusive tannins. A joy to the palate ...

OT, takes one to know one!BTW, that '09 Brunello is one to jump on now, too. That vintage is more forward and riper than my typical choices in BdM, definitely not for the cellar at this point. But it's Lisini, and they don't bottle it as BdM if it doesn't meet standards, so it's going to be tasty with a Bistecca Fiorentina or some rabbit ragu. Read More
Just back from Chablis with a few thoughts. The first is that the Chablisienne should try and find another name for Petit Chablis. I often hear wine enthusiasts say it’s “Chablis that didn’t make the grade”, “from young vines or poor vineyards”. Sadly, this is not surprising as the name does suggest an inferior wine but after two days of tasting... Read More
RBA-I had a similar day yesterday. A little shopping, house work and football. And of course wine! We have had this 2010 Fifty Row Cab previously and it's a winner. The 2010 Napa vintage is drinking very well now and right in our wheelhouse. Strong dark fruit on the nose. Blackberry with a touch of blackcherry as it glides across the palate. ... Read More
Just revisited an old favorite movie. One of the better uses of wine in it, in ways that further the plot along nicely. Very intelligent director and script writer make replacement of an accidentally broken bottle with the wrong vintage lead to exposure of enemy action. Nice oldskool wine cellar, too.I'll post some photos below and see who guess... Read More

The majority of wines on the market these days are meant to be consumed within one to five years. This is a natural law. Producing wines that can sit in the cellar for decades is time-consuming and expensive. There is a time and place for wines that age and adventurous palates are required. Most all age-worthy wines will have high acid, tannin, ... Read More
Hi All,Thanks for welcoming me to your discussion group (great and fun site). I found snooth because I was trying to read up on aging champagne and I happened on an interesting and informative thread. While the short of it is 21 years ago, almost to the day, I laid away several bottles of champagne and sort of forgot about them. There were store... Read More
