Alcoholic nose. There is something fruity here, but I can't pin it down. Nice brown barolo color. Good heat and tannins. Some tar on the tongue. Some real light small berries, are berry subtle. hehe. Good vino here.

It’s a great thing when things just come together. Earlier this year I had planned a trip to California to do some tasting but it had to be postponed. When I went to reschedule I noticed a thread in the Snooth Forum that was looking for people to join in a West Coast Pinot Noir Throw Down. I wasn’t sure what exactly that entailed but I am alway... We're heading back to (my favorite wine region) Russian River the first weekend in October and are looking for advice on what to do and what to expect. We've been to RRV several times but only during the off season. Is there anything special we should do at this time of year, and conversely, is there anything we should avoid? Read More
I did some random research today, or just internet wine travels that somehow led me to Valtellina, a place that I might have briefly heard about in the past but didn't really resonate. Anyway, it's a very cool climate, with some of the best wines grown in high altitudes that are run by families, not corporations. As far as producers go, one that... Read More
So we have some interest in having a West Coast meet-up (or you can call it a throw-down) for Pinot. Here's my opening proposal: We'll do it very close to the Oakland Airport, to save those who are traveling in from out of town (like Emark and JonDerry) from having extra travel if they want to fly. This would give LuchaVino a chance to attend... Read More
An interesting article --http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/01/dining/kevin-pogue-seeks-washington-states-top-terroir.htmlI've yet to try any wines from Walla Walla -- simply not available here -- but keep reading about them. It's on my to-do list for if I ever visit the US. But it's particularly interesting to see they're taking terroir more seriou... Read More

I was wondering which Tuscan wines you prefer. Mainstream Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Chiani DOCG or are you more into less known Tuscan wines like Montecucco DOC, Vino Nobile di Montalcino DOCG or Morellino di Scansano DOCG? I'm only focusing on Sangiovese-based wines here - not on Super Tuscans like (Bolgheri DOC or Sassicaia DOC).Do you t... Read More
