Dandarin has a label listed alcohol by volume of 14.5%. Prior to drinking the wine was decanted for roughly five hours. The wine has a very dark red color with black reflexes. On the nose I found red fruits including blueberry & raspberry, some blackc...

We talked a lot about sparkling wine last week but there is a lot more to cover. The biggest sparkling wine day of the year, New Year's Eve, is right around the corner. Opening a bottle of sparkling wine can be a a dangerous proposition. There's a lot of pressure under that cork! But if you like living on the edge, there's always sabrage. When t... Read More
Okay, we're counting down to the end of the year. With three drinking weeks left, start nominating your wines of the year. And, if you like, nominate a wine experience of the year. I'm going to have to think about the WOTY for a while, and I'll update this OP as things occur to me, but I'm going to say it wasn't a year full of head turning win... Read More

If I had a Twitter account, I'd probably remind all my friends to drink French today. (Funny how I don't really celebrate Italian independence day, or Republic Day, or the anniversary of the unification of Italy, which unluckily for it falls on March 17.) Not trying to get too political, so let's just say that France certainly has a big impact... Read More
I've been really bad about posting updates on the house. Structurally, we are finished, and all the walls are painted and floors finished. We have stairs, about to have our big Tansu thing in the middle of them, And we've got a dining room that seats twenty pretty easily. Maybe more. (Didn't OT say all that garden building was making him lose ... Read More
Anyone have any experience?I've noticed Kelley mentioned among the best company in Oregon Pinot, popular with Somm's and the like. Being a Burgundy lover, I've mostly found CA Pinot painful (though I've found a few I like!), and Oregon Pinot quite a bit more elegant, but sometimes or most of the time more boring rather than painful (as I find wi...
