  • OK, bear with me for a second. These wines may not be amazing in your THIS GOT 90PTS AND IT'S ONLY $8!!! kind of way, but they are great values and are a wonderful opportunity to add some amazement into your life. Not in this is a great Sauvignon Blanc kind of way but rather in a WOW! WHAT IS THIS? kind of way! Now I'm a pretty savvy guy when it... Read More

  • This weekend I was asked by a friend to help pour wine in his shop. Located about 75 minutes north of Manhattan, roughly on the border of New York and Connecticut this retail operation is located in a decidedly middle class area and while they have a small but well selected higher end selection of wine the art majority of the wines on offer come... • I was recently transferred to an office in Fremont, CA, which is like a prison sentence in my work, so how do I entertain myself?  I scout out new wine stores.  And, thanks to Yelp, I found this really cool market that specializes in all things Portugese. It's no secret I love Spanish wine, and my experience with Portugese so far has been that i... Read More

  • Albariño is mostly grown at Rias Bajas therefore near the coast. There is another wine from the same grape but from Portugal grown further inland and is called Vinho Verde, and is also very good. Another Galician wine which is IMO is just as good if not better is the Godello grown in the hills bordering Leon. Any of this would go wondefully with... Read More

  • I am serving a Cream of Kalamata Olive soup with avocados, cream, a bit of butter, white vermouth, chicken broth and a bit of vinegar. What wine would you recommend with this soup? It is served warm. Also, it doesn't say what kind of vinegar to use and I'm thinking sherry. what do you think? Read More
