  • Gerard Bertrand Cremant de Limoux Brut Rose Cuvee Thomas Jefferson 2013

    Snoothrank:

I recently found this Cremant de Limoux for sale at my local supermarket. They just started carrying Gerard Bertrand's wines, which none of the local wine/liquor stores carry. This sparkling wine is quite nice for the money, very dry, medium small bubbles, with a clean aftertaste. However, there are several other brands in this price range that ... Read More

  • At my folks house in Michigan celebrating Mom's 88th B-day. They are not big wine drinkers, usually a glass of Andre Cold Duck on New Year's Eve so I know they wouldn't care for anything overly expensive. I've always found this Piper Sonoma bubbly to be a pretty decent quaff at a reasonable price. The folks seemed to really enjoy it. Read More

  • Al, ordering from Limerick Lane is a no-brainer.  The worst LL wine I have ever had was very good.  Yes, you have to figure shipping into the per bottle cost.  So, I agree that it makes no sense to order a single bottle.  Spread the cost of shipping over multiple bottles.I'm pretty excited about the mailing, next week.  I'm probably going to bre... • RBA, when it's finished you all are definitely invited for the christening!DM, our plan is to let the kids worry about resale value, we love the house, the neighborhood and the neighbors. The Charlotte area is alive and still growing but we're far enough out of town to not have to worry too much about city issues. Still, I think it would be fair... Read More

  • Ah, research never tasted as good when we were working.  Now it's more of a quest to find the perfect wine for our taste.  Good luck with that.Tonight we held another wine tasting party, this time it was hosted at our friends Sally & Bob's house in Centreville, VA.  I ran the blind tasting activities while Sally and Bob served up the food and ke... • Tonight we dined with friends (from where we used to work) at a nearby steak restaurant called Monty's Steakhouse.  The service wasn't so great but we did enjoy the house wine at the bar (Malbec and Merlot), followed by a lovely Shiraz that I shared among the four of us during dinner - which was mostly steaks, lamb and salmon.  I would definitel... • Speaking of drinking and eating cheaply, we brought Burger King burgers / chicken sandwiches and things of this nature over to Sandra's parents house tonight for our Wednesday evening 'Wheel of Fortune / Jeopardy' night, drinking a cheap white wine while doing so.  Coming back home, we opened this French GSM blend wine (2013 Chateau de Saint Cos... • Ah, my first weekend following that wonderful vacation in Oregon.  So what ... March), and then we dined at The Wine House before heading over to George Mason University to watch an almost 3 hour not-so-good play called Middletown.  The dinner was wonderful, with a delightful Bodegas Beronia Rioja Gran Reserva 2006Tempranillo wine, but the play... • A tasty Zinfandel is always welcome in our house.  We recently enjoyed a 2012 Repris Zinfandel from their Moon Mountain Vineyard.Tonight was quite a pleasurable experience.  First we dined at a new (to us) restaurant in the district called Scion.  It was decent but nothing to write home about (good enough to write in the forum though); I tried a...
