  • Vino, my guess is that the 2nd of the two photos of the faux-brick paneling closet may have been staged (hell, maybe even the first one, too, after the owners moved out). Too many of the same bottles, none of which look remarkably expensive. The house is costly enough that a) you'd expect better (or at least pricier) wine if it was a photo while... Read More

  • DM, have to agree with the quality of Tannat from France vs. here statement ... of Tablas Creek Tannat in the wine closet ('12, '13 & '14) that I'm looking forward to sampling in a couple years. Tannat is definitely known for its massive tannins and should only get better with some age.Adding to the weird Wednesday theme, enjoyed this nice Nor... Read More

  • MY FIRST VISIT TO BERN'S STEAKHOUSE - Tampa (4/8/2017)Like any true wine geek when I was informed of a trade show in Tampa my first thought was "I'm making reservations at Bern's." I have friends who live in Tampa about 3 min from the restaurant so we hooked up for a fun three top. Rachel came recommended as a Somm so I requested her in advance.... Read More

  • Father-in-law and Sis-in-law here so I had the CFO's Dad pick a bottle out of the wine closet. Good choice Tom!Excellent grenache/syrah blend.  The nose is mainly typical syrah - ripe black cherry and a bit of earthiness.  More black cherry on the tongue with some black pepper, some meatiness, mouth drying but fine tannins, medium acidity and a ...
