The Spanish Table specializes in wines from Spain, Portugal and Argentina. We also have a large selection of rare Vintage Ports, Madeiras and Sherry. In addition to our wine website, we also have four retail shops throughout the United States where we specialize in foods, wines and cookware from the Iberian Peninsula. The Spanish Table came into being in 1995 to help pass on our love of the Iberian Peninsula. The wine website is the online resource for wines from the Iberian Peninsula. We have one of the largest selections of Spanish wine in the US along with an extensive selection of Madeira, Sherry and Port. Everything from great values to some of Spain and Portugal’s rarest and hardest to find wines. We also have an extensive collection of wines from Argentina and Chile. The Berkeley store opened in 2001 and was the second location of The Spanish Table. Our Bay Area location adds an Iberian flair to Berkeley's rich International Marketplace District. Easy to find from I-80 and BART, we are located between Hearst and Delaware, just north of University Ave. Street parking is plentiful.

  • So dmcker, that might be a good one for another thread:  What goes best ... we received a gift card to The Spanish Table and a copy of their cookbook.  Lots of paella recipes and history, and one thing that stuck with me was that paella originally had snails. It was peasant food, and snails, rabbit, really anything that you could harvest or ca... Read More

  • In this case, a '79 Mondavi Chardonnay Reserve stole the show. Just the fact that it was still upright, despite passive cellaring (another from a previously discussed estate sale my neighbor scored on) was enough to write about. However, this surprisingly gave some real, almost sublime pleasure, despite being on the precipice of oxidation. It dr... Read More

  • Now in its third century, Charles Krug Winery is the quintessential example of a multigenerational winery that fuses tradition and innovation to craft wines of high acclaim. It is the oldest winery in the Napa Valley and has been owned and operated by the Peter Mondavi, Sr. family for four generations. The winery dates back to 1861, when it was ... Read More

  • After last week’s disappointing look at value priced Zinfandel you would be right to think that this week’s take on value priced Syrah, with a focus on Australian Shiraz, might produce equally horrifying results. After all if there was a poster child for big, oaky, goopy, and slightly sweet wines in the marketplace Aussie Shiraz certainly would ... Read More

  • While there are some tastings I do not look forward to each year, there are others that I can’t wait for. For the most part that means things like Barolo and northern Rhone Syrah, but it also includes the greatest set of value wines I get to sample each year; inexpensive Portuguese red wines! Now, admittedly that’s a pretty broad category of vino... • Sorry, haven't been on here for a couple days so I thought it was time to catch up. Woke up Saturday morning and found ourselves in Marseilles where we're starting our next great wine adventure. First day was spent trying to get rid of the jet lag cobwebs so we took it easy, checked out Aix-en-Provence and then headed to the villa in St. Remy. D...
