  • MY FIRST VISIT TO BERN'S STEAKHOUSE - Tampa (4/8/2017)Like any true wine geek when I was informed of a trade show in Tampa my first thought was "I'm making reservations at Bern's." I have friends who live in Tampa about 3 min from the restaurant so we hooked up for a fun three top. Rachel came recommended as a Somm so I requested her in advance.... Read More

  • Long time lurker on both Snooth and Wine Berserkers. Why I decided to post now, I am not sure. Lover of California red wines particularly Zins and Cabs. Just getting into Pinots. Hate spending more than $50/ bottle. My comfort level is between $30-$40. Small wine cellar ( about 100 bottles) because we tend to drink what we buy.I do not feel that... Read More

  • OT, takes one to know one!BTW, that '09 Brunello is one to jump on now, too.  That vintage is more forward and riper than my typical choices in BdM, definitely not for the cellar at this point.  But it's Lisini, and they don't bottle it as BdM if it doesn't meet standards, so it's going to be tasty with a Bistecca Fiorentina or some rabbit ragu.  Read More

  • Hello all,I'm not actually a beginner in wine preparation. I started preparing wine 3 months ago. I've tasted different varieties of wine and my favorite is Merlot wine. I had a doubt earlier on how to store the prepared wine. I searched many sources and asked many friends and  I happened to read an article yesterday which had tips to properly s... Read More

  • D, not everything winds up on the internet, at least not via the usual mechanisms.  Being local can help.  Shiners, closeout specialists in the neighborhood, calls from friends, there's stuff that comes in small quantities with "secret" backstory even now.Okay, here are a couple that you won't find east of Reno (I think I used that before, and w... • I've been really bad about posting updates on the house. Structurally, we are finished, and all the walls are painted and floors finished. We have stairs, about to have our big Tansu thing in the middle of them, And we've got a dining room that seats twenty pretty easily.  Maybe more.  (Didn't OT say all that garden building was making him lose ... • A few days ago I participated in a tasting/pairing event that featured white wines. One of the wines was Chablis, and, while discussing this one, the facilitator stated that it was fermented in steel and had never seen oak.  I asked if that was common for the region and he responded that it was absolutely the case, and was so for all white wines...
