  • So I just started a wine tasting class a couple of weeks ago in college as an elective course. I am learning a lot about wine, and recently aeration, so we have been using decanters to let Cabernet Sauvignon breathe, which does get better after some minutes in the decanter. I felt like it also improved a lot an Argentine Malbec young wine. But ea... Read More

  • It being earth day tomorrow I thought this would be a fine time to explore attitude towards the whole organic/natural/biodynamic movement. • Carignan AKA Mazuelo, Bovale Grande, Cariñena and Carignane, is, for most wine lovers, a bit of an enigma. We know it’s out there, component in many blends, particularly from Spain and France, where it was the most widely planted variety in the country through much of the 1980s. But what do we really know of Carignane? Not so much because there ... Read More

  • Pinot has been a much celebrated topic here on Snooth over the years I've participated, and it's obviously one of the more celebrated grapes in the wine world. It'll no doubt be a story line I plan on focusing on in years to come so I thought I'd start a thread, logging experiences. Sorry in advance, Greg T.Having said that, I've been mostly dis... • While traveling through Napa Valley last month I noticed that all the Vineyards I visited had roses planted around their crops. They're planted and watched closely for any early signs of infestation on the land. They monitor the Roses closely and upon early signs of problems, protective measures are taken to make sure the grape vines receive a s... • In my continuing fascination with Chardonnay (or it could be more like a streak), I was out to dinner with my folks and we happened to go out to King's fish house, basically my dad's favorite restaurant. It's always been a bit of a tough play for wine, though not without a few somewhat interesting selections. Was also interesting how I might hav... Read More

  • Hi all! I've recently posted three different lists of organic wines. Since I'm really interested in organic and biodynamic farming, I'd love to hear your tips on favorite wines in these categories. Is there anything you think I should taste? Also, it tends to be a topic on which people have strong opinions. What is yours? What do you think about... Read More
