For years Pam and I were frustrated trying to find truly great wine. Selecting a decent bottle of wine from thousands of pretty labels with prices ranging from $5-$35 was difficult at the best of times. We were always happiest with wine recommendations from friends. Each month we travel California's wine country searching out the wineries, meeting the families and tasting the wines that never make it to local stores or wine shops. This is why it was so easy to guarantee that our wine of the month club members and gift recipients will never receive Read more »

  • Hey everyone, what are some of your favorite 'everyday' or M-F types of wines to accompany a regular dinner?  I personally have enjoyed the Montoya Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, and I usually pick it up from Total Wines out here in Virginia.  This is one of those fruit-forward cabs that isn't too complex for me to appreciate, and it usually cost... • Hi everyone.  My wife Sandra and I have been into wine for the past few years and that's led to a few trips to Napa Valley and related areas in 2012 and 2013.  We enjoy all wines but reds are our favorites.  We hosted our first wine tasting party last night and it was a fun event - sixteen wine lovers trying different wines in a blind tasting.  ... • Perhaps we could use a place to share recent purchases...Here are some '12 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo, which came highly recommended from a trusted friend who just got back from a month in Italy. • Bill, have you ever come to the right place.  There are a lot of Zinfandel fans, here.Since reading your introductory post, I've done a bit of research.  First, I went to your Snooth profile and found that you live in Atlanta, GA.  That is good information to know.  Since you live in a large metropolitan area, we can assume that you have access ... • To: GREGTI am sorry that I am new to the forum.  The person who flamed me for recommending Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches was responding to a review I posted (maybe entirely separate from the forum?) His/her user name was "vjg6014".I don't entirely understand what you mean by Saintsbury OP?  I know that their "basic" Carneros Chardonnay is ... Read More

  • I don't know where you are located, but there is an incredible buttery, appropriately oaky Chardonnay (100% malolactic) from the Carneros region just south of Napa.  You may have to order it directly from the winery, if you're not in California you probably won't find it in a wine store.  The winery is called Saintsbury - surprisingly enough, th... • Thanks for the warm welcome.  I have not been to C.G. DiArie.  I was a member of the wine club of that winery when it was Bella Piazza and I loved their Primitivo.  I checked out the website and read about the new owner.  Guess I will have to go visit!  Both the wineries you mention are a little farther north from me.  I live in Sonora and I am ...
