Solano Cellars is located in Albany, California, just north of Berkeley. For the past thirty years, we've earned a reputation for discovering emerging wineries, championing the classics and creating a unique, inclusive environment where wine is a common interest for people from all walks of life. Many alumni of Solano Cellars have gone on to have an effect on the culture of domestic and imported wine. With a 30-year history, it is hard to find someone in Northern California who hasn't passed through our portals. The founder of Solano Cellars, Bill Easton, makes highly-regarded wines in the Sierra Foothills with his wife Jane. We encourage you to visit their winery and to sample their wines - they are excellent. We like to think that the current generation of people at Solano Cellars preserve the senses of curiosity and passion that motivated the Eastons to open Solano Cellars decades ago. Today, Solano Cellars features an acclaimed selection of small production wines from around the world with special concentration on hard to find California wines. A welcoming wine bar is nestled away upstairs and serves a fresh, seasonal menu with artisan cheeses and salumi, paired to adventurous wine flights, Read more »

  • JD, I'm going to keep my eye out for AMA's Maioli bottling from 2011, ... ... right around $20.  Solano Cellars also still has her 2011.  I think the cat's out of the bag on that one and the wine will get increasingly hard to find--she's a tiny producer making what I now think is the best dolcetto (better than Chionetti, where the older gener... • Had some neighbors over Friday for an Italian themed potluck. Good thing I have neighbors who can cook and who appreciate my wine...makes for a nice group effort. Not much time to go over everything in detail, but I continue to enjoy 2011 Barbera d'Alba, and also the 2011 Tommasi Soave that I picked up last minute was a real surprise. I'll be buy... Read More

    Snoothrank:

Enjoyed this bottle in 11/2011 with chili, after cellaring for two years. I usually stick with zinfandels from Rosenblum, but this was surprisingly delightful. More complex than I expected; fruity and peppery (I know this isn't very descriptive--but I'm not much good at detecting specific flavors in wine) with a very smooth finish. Wish I had bo... • What's the worst wine you have ever had? I had some Don Luciano Shiraz over the weekend (which is a $4.00 wine I picked up at Wal-Mart...just to see). I had had the Don Luciano Chardonnay and it was OK, but the Shiraz I had smelled like road kill (very heavy sulfur)--I wonder if I got a bad bottle.  Has anyone else tried it? Read More
