  • Robert Keenan Winery Chardonnay Spring Mountain 2014

    Snoothrank:

Pale yellow color. Just a hint of tropical fruit on the nose. Lots of acid on introductionLemon with unripened pineapple. Some metallic hint. Another crisp and refreshing summer sipping wine, but I am of the opinion that this one is difficult to recommend a meal pairing with this one. Read More

  • Looks like a good snag, Fox, and you've gotta put things in perspective:--five of those sparklers in place of one Goldeneye 10 Degrees--four of those sparklers in place of one of the Duckhorn merlots Substitute for two of those Duckhorns and you can have a decent party!Sorry, Al, but those prices for the juice they're delivering are just waaaaaa... • Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 35th Anniversary 2011

    Snoothrank:

Quite dark in color. Woody, viny nose with a suggestion of olive. Initial mouth sensation is that this is pretty thin. Little or no fruit to speak of. Somewhat sour or weedy, but, then some oaky vanilla. Some leather and tobacco on the back of the palate. I normally expect Spring Mountain wines to be brutally tannic, but this one has surpri... • Robert Keenan Cabernet Franc 2010

    Snoothrank:

Clear dark plum color in the glass. Bit of a chemical or mineral nose. Very assertive on entry. Not a lot of fruitmaybe, some blackberry, maybe, a suggestion of stone fruit. A lot of puckery dryness from tannin, but that also gives the suggestion of unsweetened cocoa. A mouth-filling, full-bodied wine. Definitely a big boys wine. Read More

  • Keenan Merlot Napa Valley 2012

    Snoothrank:

More fruitycherry--nose than Im used to from Keenan. It may be some suggestive power, but I also get cherrywood aroma. On the tongue/palate this to me seems to be a typical Spring Mountain (the majority of the fruit for this wine is from Keenans Spring Mountain estate vineyard, the rest is from the Carneros) red wine. Big and mouth filling. ... Read More

  • Robert Keenan Winery Syrah Napa Valley 2011

    Snoothrank:

Something of a viney nose, a bit of black fruit aroma. On the tongue this initially seems to be a very austere winesome blackberry and black plum flavor, fairly tart, and not mouth-filling. Little or no tannin puckeriness. Quite surprising for a Spring Mountain red wine. Read More

  • Michael Keenan's life changed forever in 1997 when his father, Robert Keenan, asked if he was interested in managing the Spring Mountain winery founded by Robert in 1974. Although several years had passed since he'd set foot on the property high on the Mayacamas mountain range of Napa Valley, Michael's first thought when he arrived at the winery... Read More

  • Keenan Zinfandel Napa Valley 2011

    Snoothrank:

Acidic tartness right from the introduction to the palate is very surprising. Relatively light-bodied compared to previous years examples. Minimal black berry fruit flavors. Minimal tannin, which is very surprising for this wine and this winery. Read More

  • Keenan Syrah Napa Valley 2009

    Snoothrank:

Quite darkalmost PS darkin the glass. Something of a minty/flowery nose, but, then, some barnyard hints. Unobtrusive on introduction to the palate and tongue. Some currant or blackberry, some stone fruit, some mint. Still fairly tannic. Very nice acid. Read More

  • Robert Keenan Winery Chardonnay Spring Mountain 2012

    Snoothrank:

More oak in the nose than Im used to from this winery. On the palate, though, fruit is more apparent than buttery oak. Nice tartness that suggests lemon or grapefruit, peach, or, even, pineapple. I very refreshing wine whose flavor profile returns to right what I would expect from Keenan. Read More
