  • Ridge Lytton Springs 2012

    Snoothrank:

I'm still loving this wine. Light on dark berry fruit. Plum. Good tannin that adds a bitterness, but doesn't dominate. Nice acid. Multiple levels to appreciate. Just a great wine. Read More

  • A few years ago Outthere was posting pictures of vineyards around his neighborhood.  Pagani is a bit farther than a rock throw from his adobe, but the twisted vines in this vineyard are amazing.  And, of course I am a big fan of Ridge. A lot of plum on introduction.  It's almost prune, but not quite.  Noticeable tannin, but not enough to offend ... • Ridge Zinfandel Pagani Ranch 2012

    Snoothrank:

Dark red plum color. Fairly fruity nose. Plum is my initial tongue sensationvery close to, but not quite prune in sweetness and texture. Noticeable, but not blatant tannin along with similar acid give this wine backbone and structure. Read More

  • Rabbit Ridge Chardonnay Paso Robles 2014

    Snoothrank:

Golden straw color, with a few tiny bits of what appears to be cork floating around. Right off the bat there is a briny, green olive aroma with a bit of dill which yields to vanilla, Crème brûlée, candied pecans, and buttered popcorn. On the palate there is a slight saline minerality, pear, fresh squash, and browned butter. The mouthfeel is crea... Read More

  • Columbia Valley, Columbia Gorge, and Walla Walla Valley: a triumvirate of outstanding wine producing regions with a fascinating twist. While there are numerous ways in which these three areas are vastly different from each other, they have one key similarity. Their acreage spans across both Washington and Oregon states. I spent a week traveling ... Read More

  • Ridge Geyserville 2013

    Snoothrank:

Very interesting wine. For those who recall the days when a Zinfandel was characterized as brambly, this aint it. The front label indicates that this wine is 73% Zin, 17% Carignan, 9% PS and 1% Mourvedre. This is a pretty gentle wine. A fair amount of red berry fruit on introduction, but nowhere near the tannin that I would expect. Not real... Read More

  • St. Cosme wines have gotten a ton of good press, but they haven't done it for me, even down at the CdR level, where they are pretty inexpensive.JD, I enjoyed the Ramspeck you gave me, memorable because I don't usually go for Merlot at all.  It impressed me as a really good wine for the price, a great choice if you want to have a burger or steak ...
