  • Ives, you're killing me!  Absent for, what, years, and then these ... ... ... Had a 2010 Malleolus Ribera del Duero.  I thought very good with our chicken with dry rub made with coffee, but nothing amazing.  Pretty good sized fruit, tannins to hold up to the tannins in the food (not often you need to pair that way).  We had a guest, so we ope... • Ribera del Duero but after this bottle I'm opening something fortified. The prospect of Hillary's cackle and caw for the next four years leaves me terrified, but the idea of the Donald's disinterest in the state of the world is equally terrifying. But we survived Fillmore, who had a similar hair situation, and we also survived Pierce, Polk, Hardi... Wow. Big Tannin. I like it. Blackberry fruit on entry might be a bit candied, but that is quickly blown away by puckery tannin. The only other analog that comes to mind is unsweetened chocolateor, this is it, Mexican mole sauce. There is no denying that this wine is a mouthful. $14 at Costco. Im going back for more. • Torres Celeste Crianza Ribera del Duero 2011

Better now that it sat for a few months. The fruit is lovely and enticing - mostly lush red berry with dark cherry nuances, deep seated wood, forest floor, herbal notes and mocha. Deep filling aftertaste. Drink now - Paul 89 points Read More

  • D - he didn't really overstep IMHO. But his book has really limited appeal ... ... distinguish Rioja from Ribera del Duero, or Tempranillo from Cab. But many people are much more astute - you were at Brian's where Mike Smith could identify wine from specific vineyards - he new them so well he could call them out cold. It's a result of repeated...
