I really do try to understand why some people rely so much on wine critics. As if one person’s taste could be the same as yours, and everyone else’s! Or, I’ll taste a wine that sells for $25 and know that it’s really worth about half that ... and, again, read a stellar review of it somewhere. How about the time that one well-known wine critic told everyone to mortgage the house, raid the saving account and buy, buy, buy as much of one newly released wine that they could get their hands on. Two days later, the wine maker recalled the wine, taking back and destroying every bottle. The wine had become infected with brettanomyces, a type of yeast infection, which made the wine smell like Read more »

  • When one thinks of sparkling wine, the first that probably comes to mind is Champagne. However, there are many different kinds of sparkling wine from countries and regions other than France. In the Penedès wine region of Northern Spain, this type of fizzy wine is called “Cava.”Today, we visited Mas Bertran, a family-operated winery in Sant Martí... Read More

  • So we're all here and we see that many of us got bitten by the sweet white wine bug, only to move on? My wine life begn  ightIalandne, ent through almost everything else, ends with medium to light Italian red wines, only to start the circuit again, yes my tastes change, evolve and vary! So where did you start, where are you, where do you want to... • I’m not really sure if wine cocktails are true cocktails, but these recipes are still ideal for summer fun and entertaining. The Bellini is probably the most famous wine cocktail, though sangria may fight for that honor. Either one can be delightful, and while they may define wine cocktails for many people, there really is a world of recipes to ... Read More

  • You know people love to say that the world is getting smaller, and I couldn’t agree more, especially when it comes to the world of wine. Gone are the days when white was served with fish, red with meat, and sparkling wine was reserved for holidays, and served out of terrible, yet inspired, bowl-shaped glasses. Today’s world is full of new inspir... Read More

  • I'm curious: Do you order half bottles in restaurants, or ever purchase them for home consumption? I've started to notice them cropping up more frequently in my area (a wine bar just opened in my neighborhood that boasts a half-bottle option for nearly every wine on their list) -- and yet I always feel the urge to either order by the glass, or c... Snoothrank:

This is the best white wine I have ever had. It has a light fruity taste that is not quite as bubbly as champagne but so very smooth. Not for the ones who prefer a really dry wine. A+ So glad Olive Garden is not the only place you can get it!! Try Red Electra if you like the OG "house" red. It is really close to the one they mix! Read More
