  • Perhaps we could use a place to share recent purchases...Here are some '12 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo, which came highly recommended from a trusted friend who just got back from a month in Italy. I'm not seeing many available in the States quite yet, but was happy to find these locally. Read More

  • Location is Forestville CA. in the middle of the RRV. I am about 12 minutes from Charles Shulz Sonoma County Airport (STS). You can fly direct to STS from SEA, PDX , SAN and LAX for a price or Airport Express runs busses from SFO and OAK to STS. The bus runs every hour on the 1/2 hour from OAK and SFO. • I'll be in Charlotte, NC on business the week of February 24th, and was hoping some locals might be able to help out with a few questions, and maybe get together to open a bottle or two. Any help would be appreciated, and it would be great to meet Snoothers from that neighborhood. -Bob1) Are there any BYOB restaurants in Charlotte?2) If so, what... Read More

  • Did anybody go berserk on Berserker Day over on the Wine Berserkers website? I pulled the trigger on a three pack of Super Tuscan style reds from Kaella Winery based out of Woodinville.  This one is 86% Sangiovese, 7% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon.  The grapes are sourced from Ciel du Cheval, Conor Lee and Ambassador .  Three outstanding vine... • Back in July, I proposed a West Coast Pinot Noir throwdown on the Snooth forums.  In what was a pot-luck twist on one of Gregory dal Piaz’s “Drink My Wine” events, I suggested that any Snooth forum posters could congregate in my neck of the woods—Oakland, California—and bring a bottle of their favorite Pinot Noir from whatever region they think ... • We're heading back to (my favorite wine region) Russian River the first weekend in October and are looking for advice on what to do and what to expect.  We've been to RRV several times but only during the off season.  Is there anything special we should do at this time of year, and conversely, is there anything we should avoid? • So we have some interest in having a West Coast meet-up (or you can call it a throw-down) for Pinot.  Here's my opening proposal:  We'll do it very close to the Oakland Airport, to save those who are traveling in from out of town (like Emark and JonDerry) from having extra travel if they want to fly.  This would give LuchaVino a chance to attend... • During Vinexpo 2013 last month – the world’s largest wine fair held once every two years in Merignac just outside Bordeaux – I tasted a fine lineup of Paul Jaboulet wines at the La Lagune stand. The Frey Family, which also owns Chateau La Lagune in the Medoc, acquired Paul Jaboulet Aîné in 2006 and Caroline Frey – whom I interviewed recently – s... Read More
