  • Riesling could be eclipsing Chardonnay as a go-to white wine grape for wine ... has been a real effort by Oregon winegrowers over the last few years to establish Riesling as a key varietal. It’s working.A few to try:Anne Amie Estate Dry Riesling Yamhill-Carlton 2013Floral petrol aromas with an undernote of baked green apple, honey and tart lim... Read More

  • EM - Sandra's oyster assessment:  The west coast oysters are more delicate, have a cucumber taste and the further north you get them from the better they are.  The east coast oysters are brinier, generally less delicate (larger) and again the further north you go (PEI) the better they are.DM - I'm certainly not going to address each and every ph... • $50-60+range: Chappellet Signature and Smith-Madrone out of Napa. Also 2nd the Washington rec's from Greg, Andrew Will.I'd look to Oregon for Pinot Noir and maybe some Chard. I'm a fan of Cameron, Amalie Robert (Estate or Amalie's Cuvée). There are French producers there as well like Drouhin, Jadot (via the Resonance label), and Evening Land has ... Read More

Andrew Will is a great wine for people who like classic Bordeaux. The mass-market Chateau St. Michelle Cab or Merlot is actually pretty decent for what you pay. A... Read More

  • "The drive through the Cascades yesterday was very stressful due to rain, fog and people that drive too fast."I can still remember a very stressful drive (me doing most of it) many moons ago in a friend's VW bug in the opposite direction from yours: from Seattle to Walla Walla.
