  • DAYNA -Welcome to snooth!!  The Meomi is technically an off dry Pinot with the amount of residual sugar that it has.  I've never held one for that long but it should work. However the 2013 is still available in some markets and really, really good for it's style. - Mark West makes the "Black" Pinot in the same style. I've been drinking the Eroic... Read More

  • Saturday (16 July) started off with me trying to finish the assembly of a multi-piece IKEA cabinet structure that would sit below our new 75" Sony XBR75X940D television.  The old 'coffee table' wasn't going to cut it anymore, but I was going to still use my stereo system for a semi-decent audio experience.  Once I had the cabinets fully assemble... • Clearly those were below retail.  Someone must have overbought or had a change of heart or something.  Nice work there, Duncan.  And I am always happy to see you posting, so thanks for sharing that.On our way to last night's vineyard dinner in Rockpile, we stopped at a winery to use their picnic grounds, felt obliged to taste, and, having enjoye... • DMCKER - Thanks again and yes I will check out those threads...and thanks for not regurgitating on the site. Just the smell makes me want to.Back to where we should be...My cellar is in a state of flux right now.  I cut it down from 750 to 500 to 250+. Enough I thought at the time. I am 64 after all, but I not happy with that low number - so the... Read More

  • Planning to do some exploring into Italy's other wine varietals, those without the fanfare or popularity of Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto, etc.First up is a Ruche with a few years bottle age by Montalbera, apparently a lighter wine that was traditionally brought out for special occassions...figure this should make for a nice aperti... • I agree that RCKR pulled down a nice group there.  That Neprica is a serious value. I'm feeling squeezed by JD's tilt toward Piemonte and everyone else getting on the Halcon bandwagon.  It's going to make things harder for me.The other night on the way to dinner, I stopped at Paul Marcus Wine Shop in Rockridge and grabbed a 2013 Vietti Barbera T... • Among the sparklers, Jacquesson's GVS beat out the Schramsberg BdN, though I like both wines. Good comparison since the Jacquesson was 55% PN and 45% chard. Not a version that they produce any more, to my knowledge. I really like that house and used to drink cases and cases of it last decade, including that vintage. Zero chaptalization, extended... • CT will allow you to input a location or even barcode your wine.  So you could have a location called "11 Madison" and one called "Saison," and one called "Babbo," for the bottles Batali was stealing from, I mean storing for,  you. Emark, if you even need to know the rules for storing wine in Abu Dhabi, my nephew can fill you in.  He's returning... • Funny, I hadn't really noticed that Neyers made so many wines from such diverse varieties.  So I followed up on JD's comment, and looked at the GSM.  It reminds me of Jade Mountains "Provencale" GSM, which was sourced from different locales so had to be labeled California.  When Jade Mountain was sold and the owners wanted to change the packagin...
