Global Wineries was founded on the 1st of January 2004 and is a fusion of Godevin (Hungarian Wines) and Calistoga New World Wines. Calistoga was founded in February 1994 by Paul Dielen. With his degree of Translator/Interpreter Franch-Spanish he started looking for an activity by which he could use his languages especially the Spanish. Due to his strong interest in wine Paul started selling Spanish wines. Gradually the assortiment was enlarged with wines from other countries. In 2000 he changed his one men's business into a limited company and he became a full-time wineseller. Godevin was founded in November 1992 by Peter Goossens who's been active as Head Winetaster for many years in one of Antwerp's most outstanding restaurants. Why Hungarian wines? • Hi guys, Surfing around I found this great wine site. As a latina, born in Chile, I would say I got carmenere running in my veins, hehe, but I do enjoy wines from all over the world. When I studied in California I remember tasting fabulous wines and living close to the Mediterranean does have advantages. Anyhow, I didn't find many comments about... Read More

  • Need a little help on this matter. My wine guy suggested many wines to me most out of tanks, like it was better than sitting in oak. Can someone explain the main differences. My take so far is that American oak gives a Vanilla flavor to the wine(is this right or wrong)? And why do the French think their oak is better? Thanks Read More

  • I'm hoping the Snooth community can help me out with some recommendations. I've have had a couple Argentinian Malbec and Malbec blend wines in the last couple of months that I really enjoyed and I was hoping that I could get some recommendations to expand what I've tried. I'm looking up to $50 but realistically more in the $15 to $30 range. L... Read More

  • I just can't help but feel like both WA and WS are rating wines higher then they have in the past. These thoughts are coming from my true love in wine, Barolo. I remember reading reviews on wines from 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001 (all great vintages) and for some of the best producers in that region I would see scores of 90 - 94 for some of the best... Read More

  • I´ve read a lot lately on biodynamic wines and how the position of the moon and other things can affect the vines growth or even the wine tasting, mostly on phylosophical grounds believing that "Biodynamics takes organic farming practices and wraps them as broader conception of the farm / the vineyard as a coherent organism, where inputs and out...
