Global Wineries was founded on the 1st of January 2004 and is a fusion of Godevin (Hungarian Wines) and Calistoga New World Wines. Calistoga was founded in February 1994 by Paul Dielen. With his degree of Translator/Interpreter Franch-Spanish he started looking for an activity by which he could use his languages especially the Spanish. Due to his strong interest in wine Paul started selling Spanish wines. Gradually the assortiment was enlarged with wines from other countries. In 2000 he changed his one men's business into a limited company and he became a full-time wineseller. Godevin was founded in November 1992 by Peter Goossens who's been active as Head Winetaster for many years in one of Antwerp's most outstanding restaurants. Why Hungarian wines? I think things have gotten better and I know of at least one cork broker who has a method of purging the TCA out of the corks before delivery.
