The Fine Wine Delivery Company had its modest beginning from our home on Auckland’s North Shore over 10-years ago. • What are the "must-have-wines" when you visit a wine bar?  Or just stuff you'd really like to see. This can become tricky with "by-the-glass" stuff, because I imagine people can become quite cautious with a glass of wine above the $12 figure. Any insights?? Read More

  • Hi, I am looking to buy birth year bottles for my girls (born in '95 and '97).  Which region and varietal can hold up for 21 years before popping the cork?  I'm guessing French wines will be the most common response, but my knowledge to this region is pretty limited (primarily drink CA, WA, and Italian wines).  Also not looking to break the bank... • Hey all. I'm a wine reviewer, and I just launched an article on some pretty great Rhone blends from Calcareous Vineyards, out of Paso Robles. Plus, I'm going to be attending a Rhone Rangers tasting in a couple of days, so I've got the region on my mind. What are some of your favorite Rhone grapes, regions (New or Old World), and producers? • I I was recently browsing through a few wine websites looking for the "perfect" red and white glasses. I came across a woman who had discovered the best shape for general reds and also one for whites. Unfortunately, I have misplaced the website that I was on, when I saw her link. Has anyone heard of any such website. I know it is kindof genereal... Read More

  • Being a fan of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, Cabernet and Merlot from the left and right banks of Bordeaux and Rhone varietals from, you guessed it, the Rhone valley, I've had trouble finding wines that I really like from California. Sure there have been a number of very good, and occasionally great, bottles, but my experience has been about a 20% a... Read More

  • So you're standing in an unfamiliar wine shop that sells wines that you are unfamiliar with--how do you go about choosing a wine? Do you look at the labels? Do you go by varietal or region? Do you search the shelves for a brand that you've heard of? Do you ask the sales clerk for a recommendation? How do YOU decide where to start your wine adven... Read More

  • In 1976, Amerine and Roessler ( U.C. Davis professors) counseled tasters to avoid emotive and anthropomorphic terms such big, finesse, hard, intense, lingering, long, rich, silky and velvety.  They stated in their book "Wines, Their Sensory Evaluation" that these words should be avoided at all costs.  How does the forum feel of this?
