  • So a question in one of these threads, or perhaps in a comments thread on one of my articles got me thinking about my favorite varietal wines.First off I will have to group my answer in two parts, noble wines and not noble wines. I am stealing the phrase noble from the wine geek vernacular but as a title it works just fine.So the noble grapes ar... Read More

  • I was messing around on Domaine547, somehow stumbled onto Snooth, and dove right in. Long time beer/cocktail drinker, but wine manages to slip in now and then. Just wanted to say hi to everyone, but instead of the usual "hi I'm new/welcome newbie" thread, I thought any repliers should also toss in their favorite red wine, and maybe a little tidb... • Drinking wine out of plain, ordinary tumblers seems to be a bad idea. And carrying wine glasses actually made of glass around (e.g., to picnics) is a bit tricky as they constantly want to break. Are plastic wine glasses okay? I'm a little concerned that I'd end up with wine that smelt/tasted nicely of plastic... Read More

  • I have decided to learn about wines specifically because I was tired of going to restaurants and just picking "whatever everyone else picked". My brother, who had been a bartender for over 15 years told me to figure out what grape I liked and then sent me a video y John Cleese called "Wine for the Confused". :) After watching that video, I le...
