Fine & Rare Wines
Today, I am enjoying my grill along with a bottle of 2009 Chateau de la Taille Bordeaux, another bottle from that super vintage (at least as it's been billed) from France. Now don't get me wrong, the experts who tasted from barrels are probably righ...

Hello all,I'm new here and a beginner as far as wines go. I have one (full unopened 750 ml) bottle of 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild that I'd like to sell and am seeking the best way to do so without being taken advantage of. Can anyone offer any assistance or advice?I'm located in Arizona and would prefer a face to face buyer if possible but no... Read More

Interestingly enough, was an offer from our friend Ian Cauble that falls right within this thread's discussion: Massimo Clerico, Nebbiolo, Lessona DOC Piedmont, Italy 2008 If there is one lesson that is common amongst all the great red wines of the world, it is that nothing can substitute for optimal bottle age. You can decant a young wine t... Read More
Planning to do some exploring into Italy's other wine varietals, those without the fanfare or popularity of Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto, etc.First up is a Ruche with a few years bottle age by Montalbera, apparently a lighter wine that was traditionally brought out for special occassions...figure this should make for a nice aperti... Regardless of the Barolo's style, you'll get more of its potential out of of a 15-year-old Bordeaux or CA cab than you will out of any serious four or five year old Nebbiolo from the Piedmont. Plus if you insist on drinking 3 to 4 year old wines, how will your palate have a chance to evolve? Decanting is not the be all and end all and certainly ... Read More

A few days ago I participated in a tasting/pairing event that featured white wines. One of the wines was Chablis, and, while discussing this one, the facilitator stated that it was fermented in steel and had never seen oak. I asked if that was common for the region and he responded that it was absolutely the case, and was so for all white wines... Read More
Situated as far north as Pinot Noir is cultivated in Bourgogne, Irancy is a little known treasure representing tremendous value. Situated in the Grand Auxerrois region, Irancy lies on the right bank of the Yonne river, a short drive southwest of Chablis. Here, red wines are produced exclusively. The same Kimmeridgean marl and brown limestone soil... Read More
My problem is that I'm now used to drinking the mid-range wines, as in $50 to $100 retail. I might not be able to detect complexities like most other folks here (including my wife), but I do get the overall mouth feel from a nice wine. It's rare for me nowadays to enjoy a wine under $10. Sometimes I find a nice one that is under $20. I try t... Read More
