|Winery:||Dry Creek Vineyard|
|Region:||USA » California » Sonoma County » Dry Creek Valley|
(Review of December 2009.) Superlative Napa Cabernet whose rich fruit and approachable texture make it delicious now, but whose beautiful balance and structure and grip suggest it will be good for years to come. Lots going on in this wine, from the de...
|Winery:||Long Shadows Vintners|
|Region:||USA » Oregon » Columbia Valley|
A product of Long Shadows Winery in Walla Walla, this wine is a blend of excess wines used in their signature wine blends from nine winemakers, hence "Nine Hats." The wine itself is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, ...
|Region:||USA » California » El Dorado County|
|Varietal:||Cabernet Franc , Gamay|
This California take on a classic Loire Valley red is a very welcome surprise with only 13% alcohol and fresh, anise-inflected red cherry fruit. A vibrant, sassy, and feminine wine that uses subtlety to get noticed. Bebame means "drink me" in Spanish! ...
|Winery:||Château de Fieuzal|
|Region:||France » Bordeaux » Graves » Pessac-Léognan|
Tasted February 2008: Expensive but superb wine with a top-notch bouquet (distinctive elder fruit and plums) and a slightly earthy, spicy taste and a delicious, dry and still oak-driven aftertaste. A classic Pessac-Léognan, ripe but not yet in decline,...
|Region:||France » Bordeaux » Saint-Julien|
|Varietal:||Cabernet Sauvignon , Sauvignon|
I underestimated this wine young, as it continues to put on weight and character. In fact, of the great vintages of Leoville-Las Cases, this is one of the more forward wines, largely because of the seamlessness of the 1990 and its exceptionally sweet ...
|Winery:||Knee Deep Wines|
|Region:||Australia » Western Australia|
|Varietal:||Chardonnay , Chenin Blanc|
The perfect summer drink! Beautiful with seafood and out in the sunshine! We match it here with our seared abrolhos island scallops with curry salt, sweet corn veloute, creme fraiche and popped corn.
|Winery:||Castello di Volpaia|
|Region:||Italy » Tuscany » Toscana Igt|
|Varietal:||Cabernet Sauvignon , Sangiovese|
One-third Cabernet Sauvignon, two thirds Sangiovese di Volpaia, a clone from the property. This offers up the classic scents of these Sangiovese/Cab blends yet even at this relatively high percentage of Cabernet it does not dominate the nose. There are...
|Winery:||Marques de Murrieta|
|Region:||Spain » Rioja|
Tasted on a duck breast with grilled vegetables. Aromas of roasted / chocolate of classic wines in the Rioja. Tannins well settled down with age. The finish is smooth without dryness. Show more fruit than the nose. Maturity: Drink now Okay now. The ev...

one of the most amazing, complex, interesting wines I've had in a long time. maybe too full in weight for fans of classic pinot, but I loved it....
|Winery:||Fields Family Vineyards & Winery|
|Region:||USA » California » San Joaquin County » Lodi|
The wine is a lovely bright ruby color in the glass with nice clarity. The nose is classic Syrah, with a good bit of pepper, violet and that classic twang of tart cherry and fresh herbs. The taste is really quite nice, with a blast of tart cherry up ...

Rckr, you'll notice that word "epiphany" in posts. Searching that on the forum yields a lot of stories. There's even a thread on the subject, and it contains my own epiphany wine. I remember mine completely, just like it was yesterday, all except for the producer which I think was Tyrrell, but after 40+ yrs the name has faded. What remains vivid is the experience. The place was in Freemantle, just outside Perth, in 1976. Hungry for a good meal, myself and 2 friends chanced upon this spot. It was owned by a WW2 refuge... Read More
Barolo may be Italy’s most famous red but surprisingly it hails from a ... vanilla flavours to these classic wines. I didn’t realise at the time but the ‘Barolo Wars’ had begun. Happy Easter, everyone.Today, I opened this:Firstly, bowing to Vin0Vin0 to give thanks for this wonderful bottle of wine. 2013 Esprit de Tablas Blanc was my Secret Santa present this year. The Sancerre wine district is a small area which surrounds the Loire Valley in Central France. Sancerre wines are famous for their crisp, fragrant white wines made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The Clement et Florian Berthier Sancerre has the classic sharp Sauvignon Blanc initial aroma but little in the way of fragrance. It is vibrantly pep... Read More
That sounds great Miguel, I was tempted to order Delices and Gourmandises Bordeaux wines first but I wanted something richer and more complex then I chose the Gewürzt at last, I like the spiced peaches, lychees and rosewater flavours. However, I personally prefer to pair it with a classic Alsatian meal or chinese food than Indian one. Read More
