  • Acquiesce Winery makes some fantastic whites.  They are very focused on ... cuttings, originating from Chateau de Beaucastel in France.  This particular vintage of Belle Blanc is a CdP-style blend of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, and Viognier.   The beauty of this wine is that it is not a big fruity or tarty bomb.  This one needs some air.. about... • A ridiculous number of trigger pullworthies in this new offering, many in their absolute drinking prime. Wish the shop was just down the street from me, rather than the ones that are. But then I'd have to live in NYC.  ;-(I love it when a guy drops 100 cases on a shop, just to 'make some space" in his cellar. Wonder what's going to be filling th... Read More

  • JD, the price.  Really, both the coudelet and the Chateau Neuf were extremely similar in taste and structure, I'd have a hard time telling them apart in a blind tasting but then again, that's my unsophisticated palate talking. Here's a bit more cool stuff:Beaucastel galets stones. Can't imagine how you could work the vines having to walk on these... Read More

  • Sorry, haven't been on here for a couple days so I thought it was time to ... du Pape. Our first stop at Chateau de Beaucastel. First class facility, felt like Chateau Montelena. We were taken on a full tour of the winery, grounds, part of their 100 hectare vineyard and then tasting in the barrel room.  We tried one white and three reds. The w... Read More

  • I was wondering what sort of new topic I could start that would pair nicely with my previous posting 'Weekday Wines'; well here it is - Weekend Wines.  Sometimes I just have to stop and take a minute to pat myself on the back for my quick wit but alas, this isn't one of those times.  Anyway, why not talk about wines we enjoy on weekends?  These ... • Perhaps we could use a place to share recent purchases...Here are some '12 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo, which came highly recommended from a trusted friend who just got back from a month in Italy. I'm not seeing many available in the States quite yet, but was happy to find these locally. Read More

  • So OT, how do you get your hands on those zins from the 90's?  Did you ... secured a tour/tasting of Chateau de Beaucastel, hence the non-French Tablas Creek bottle had to be opened.Emark, I'm sure you know probably better than most that the enjoyment of a wine is amplified by the company within which it is consumed as well as the surroundings.... • I'm finding that I've stopped drinking - and therefore buying - the 'glamour' bottles that I used to love opening at the drop of a hat, and while I still have around 50 of these bottles in my winecave at home and another ten cases in bonded storage, I have little interest in drinking these on a weekly basis. There's simply too much pressure - on... Read More

  • I just checked my inventory--updating after purchasing some Myriad Syrah (thanks, OT!) and putting in the Jemrose Syrahs I bought a month ago (thanks again, OT!) and it is now official:  I have more Syrah than Cab on hand and quite a bit pending delivery.  (Um, thanks OT? Love the wines but the space is getting a little tight...)So it seemed lik... Read More

  • My SS did his/her research and saw that I'm a big fan of Rhone style wines, especially Tablas Creek.I was given:2008 Domaine de la Terre Rouge L'Autre, Sierra FoothillsHere are the specs from their web site:L’Autre means “the other one”. This is now our top Rhône varietal blend. It has replaced Noir, a wine that was based on an old Placer County... Read More
