  • Montalcino is a beautiful medieval hilltop village just 40 miles south of Siena, on the ancient roadway to Rome. It is dominated by a castle, called La Fortezza, which doubles as an enoteca and wine shop. La Fortezza offers most of the wines of the zone, plus older vintages, as well as honey, olive oil, jams and the like. It also offers a breath... Read More

  • Agreed. The people who post to sell stuff get on my nerves. Like that idiot who revived William's pharaoh thread, which was kind of classic and has now been sullied.Lindeman - if you don't think you'll finish the bottle, don't decatnt the whole thing. just pour out half and put the rest in the fridge. Do a search for how to keep partial bottles ... Read More

  • Lindeman,I appreciate your self-deprecating demeanor, but no, it's not laughable.  What's laughable are people who come here and try to shamelessly plug their wares and could care less about actually contributing to the discussion or helping people looking for answers or enlightenment. If it takes you more than a day to finish a bottle, then deca... • Another option is to grab a long wood screw and screw that into the cork.  Then use a set of pliers to pull the screw out carefully.  Would it help to lubricate the inside of the bottle with some water on top of the broken cork?   Read More

  • Dude - next time smash it into the bottle and then just pour through a tea strainer if you shatter the cork. I don't have the patience for slo-pour speeds. The juice might go bad by the time I get it into the glass. Read More

  • I was at a neighbor's place for the NCAA basketball finals on Monday night, and after the game we decided to continue drinking, and so we started to look at his "cellar", which consisted of a few bottles in a wine fridge, but most of his interesting bottles were on an overhead rack, where the bottles lay horizontal. We decided on a 2007 Turley Zi...
