  • Been to Napa and Sonoma many times, but never Mendocino.  We're heading there the end of January during the Crab and Wine festival.  Would appreciate suggestions on anything we shouldn't miss - wine, food, anything else.  Thanks,  Manny Read More

  • Hi, a good friend will be at SanFrancisco next days, we have shared thousands of good bottles and we have plan to use this work travel to find (and buy) some good wines from California. We are not into California wines, just know and taste some world famous names like Mondavi. I'm asking u some advices about really good bottles, price is not a b... Read More

  • Weller Centennial was simply the best whiskey I have ever tasted.  100 proof, 10 years old at bottling, smooth, deep, complex, not overly sweet.  For comparison to other bourbons, I have had Weller Antique, Hirsch 28 year old, Elijah Craig 12 and 16, all the Beam brands, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, and on and on.  Before I geeked on wine, I geeked o... • I'm planning a wine tasting of Botrytis wines and would like some non- sweet pairing suggestions. There was a post about a year ago on Tokaji pairing that had a few good ideas, such as, blue cheese, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and foie gras. I'm looking for more of those types of suggestions from some of the foodie Snooths.  Read More

  • Greg DP's series of articles on matching wines to fastfood has been entertaining for me, and I assume others. It was always a private challenge of mine, I thought, until he went public with it. I grew up on the West Coast, and though I've gone even further west across the Pacific since then, I still visit that part of the States most, and have s... Read More

  • Bricco Riella Moscato d'Asti 2011

I served Bricco Riella for my New Year dinner. My guest all six of them loved this wine. So if my friends made wonderful comments about this wine that mean it will be in my winerack at all times. And all of them will recieve a bottle for Christmas next year. I would give this wine six glasses if I could so five glasses will do until everyone f... Read More

  • If I were anywhere near New York on the 29th I'd be going to this event. Great wine, interesting winemakers, and lots of old posters, art nouveau or otherwise. Why is it I'd rather have one of them on my wall then a Flash banner ad from the Web?Price seems like more than a bargain, and the money goes to charity, too....   ... Here's your chance ... • St. Urbans-Hof Riesling Wiltinger Alte Reben Kabinett 2010

Fruit bomb of a Riesling, both on the nose and palate. Big tree fruits with tons and tons of Peach/Apricot and just a hint of Granny Smith apple on the nose. It was all peach and apricot on the palate. (fresh peaches, not canned) Still has enough acidity to balance out quite well. It's sweet, but not "sugary" sweet. It's as I just describe... Read More

  • I've recently discovered my interest in wine since turning 21, and I've been learning some of the lingo through this great site.  I'm about to graduate from college in May, and I hope to leave my days of Franzia and refrigerated Yellow Tail out of a solo cup behind.I have a lot to learn, but I just wanted some input from you on how to become a w... • After trying to educate my palate and discern the various flavors in wine I have come a long way but also in a relatively long time frame.  Lets go back when I first discovered the flavor taste wheel which I posted about a year ago. I was facinated by the different taste sensations in both red and white wine and wanted to experience first hand. ... Read More
