  • Adelaida Inventor 2008

Big rich red Paso blend. The syrah comes through on the nose but the cab dominates on the palate. Loads of dark fruit, nice chewy tannins, long finish and lots of layers. This is an excellent wine. 2008 vintage. Read More

  • Adelaida Chardonnay Hmr Estate 2011

Great Paso chardonnay for a region not known for producing cooler climate wines. More of a California flavor profile with a fairly rich body, hints of oak, spice, subtle creme brulee, lemon zest and a touch of acidity. Not overly oaked or buttery but a nicely balanced chard with lots of nice citrus and honey in a well balanced package. Read More

  • France may have established that the grapes of Bordeaux go very well together, ... who bought their property in Adelaida Valley in 1981, but the winery is now owned by Roll Global. Their primary focus is on the Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. My favorite of their lineup has always been the Isoceles, which usua... Read More

I had this last night. I am trying to make space in my storage cellar and pulled this out. After more than 25 years, it was not bad. The big negative was that the effervescence was very much diminished. So, it is now a slighty fizzy still wine. As such it was perfectly drinkable--still has some of the yeast and mineral flavors that I expect... Read More

  • In years gone by I have drunk a lot of Zin, but it is almost always consumed within 2-3 years of the harvest.  I have let some high alcohol zins (specifically Opolo Mt Zin) go for 4 years and they had turned flabby and off tasting.  Last night I came across a bottle of Seghesio Sonoma 2007, which is their cheapest and simplest zin, and had it.  ... •   My wife had some carry over vacation from last year that she needed ... visited the wineries on 46W, Adelaida Rd and the east side of 101.  This time we stayed in a fantastic B&B due west of downtown Paso on Peachy Canyon Road with stunning views overlooking Epoch’s Paderewski vineyards.  Peachy Canyon Rd is a very hilly, curvy road.  It was ... Excellent syrah, mourvedre, zin, grenache blend. Smooth with dark cherry, dried fruits, a hint of chocolate, nice acidity and smooth tannins. Not an overpowering jammy Paso Robles red, this shows very nice balance. Read More
