Zinfandel is a good recommendation. I also find that Sangiovese, Chianti, Rosso di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in particular, offers alot of band for the buck and works very well with simple stews. Earthy Portuguese wines work very well too as do some Spanish wines.... Read more
