A & Cherry Liquor on SnoothDecember 2012
I was going to put this in the Whatcha Drinking Tonight thread. But since there was some Syrah talk going on I thought I'd start a new thread on Cool Climate Syrah.Tonight I'm visiting a wine I haven't had in since May and wanted to see how it is progressing. It comes from high up atop the Yorkville Highlands in the Anderson Valley which is in ... Read More

The nose was dark and intense with dried cherry, sweet floral notes and balsamic tones. On the palate, it was rich with velvety textures, showing dried black cherry with a sweet-and-sour quality which lasted into the long finish with notes of dark chocolate, cinnamon and cherry liquor. Thought it would be a great idea for us to take part in trading some of our favorite wines to each other this holiday season. Turning a touch creamy on the palate, this remains nicely bright and fresh on the finish, which shows more red fruit character. This is a very linear wine, very nicely done. Captur... Read More

I am a dyed in the wool fan of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlots, Sangiovese's and a few Chardonnays and Pinot Grigio's. I am trying to widen my spectrum to include Pinot Noir's. I live in the Pacific Northwest so the Pinot Noir's are readily available due to the large varieties from Oregon. Before I embark on purchasing some different brands I would l... Read More

The nose showed intense cherry liquor, almond extract, dark chocolate and a hint of heat. On the palate it was massive yet still juicy with saturating black cherry and sweet spices that seemed to touch on all the senses. The palate coating finish is long showing chocolate-covered cherry and seemed to melt slowly away. Read More

$30 direct from winery. Fruit was from two vineyards. Rhone strains of yeast were used for fermentation, and maturation was in used and new French oak barrels. Intense ruby colour that clings to the glass. Lifted youthful aromas of freshly cracked peppercorns, savoury plum, cherry liquor and a hint of dried herbs. There is almost a sweet concent...
