  • Sorry but I didn't get any shots of the Bedrock wines. This Ramey was tasty. Lots of citrus, nice acidity, not real crisp. The Mondavi took a little bit to unwind and was still evolving when the last taste was poured. 2003 has been touted as a poor Napa vintage and this is yet anotger example that people just need to be patient with some years. I... Read More

  • My fondest memory may be of a 1990 CdlR vielle vignes which I had in the early noughties. That was a good bottle of wine. My memories since then are, unfortunately, mostly more complex as I've found the wines too often more 'interesting' than blow-my-hair-back delicious. I haven't confidently felt any were worth the tariff for nearly a decade. W... Read More

  • Well as we know from the Rudy K. scandal, Amour, they didn't start bottling at the estate until 1934. Before that wines they made were mostly just put in carafes in the family-held buffet restaurants in most of the train stations across northern Italy. Now, though, they do own a hefty chunk of the Clos de la Roche appellation. And they even make... Read More

  • THE LOBSTER AND CHAMPAGNE PARTY WAS HELD HERE!  The island is owned by the father of my daughter, the wonderful doctor who married me many moons ago!  Wines and champagnes served by our resort are often quite modest but of a very high standard.  The cocktail bar in the ocean serves quite an exceptional range of interesting combinations; many are... • My big day mixing in the wine world as I've kind of helped break this news, owing to a friend of mine who is close to Laurent Ponsot. Same friend from the Netherlands who GregT and I tasted with in San Diego. Anyhow, Peter from WS contacted me this morning for info and I was able to speak with him right after he spoke to Laurent and before the s... Read More

  • Seems as though I have this thread to myself as I have put the last 5 posts on in: so here we go again. One of my favorite Chilean wines and something that I cut on while developing my affection for them. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot and Syrah grapes.  Not a Bordeaux blend as they claim, but good non the less. Read More

  • Bought a couple of bottles from Sth. America,On the left is the Maipe Reserve Bonarda 2013.  I like the sturdy build of Bonarda and Maipe makes good quailty wines.  Bodegas Noemia makes some great wines.  Their Malbe from Patagonia is the more elegant side of the grape - only 13.5% alc with great fruit.
